Stay connected with SB Nation

Connor Shaw left South Carolina's season-opening game with a shoulder contusion with less than two minutes remaining in the first half of Gamecocks' game against Vanderbilt. The injury initially appeared serious, and Dylan Thompson has entered the game at quarterback.

Shaw's arm was completely immobile as he headed to the locker room, and early reports indicated it was a shoulder contusion. Prior to the injury, Shaw was 2-for-3 for 19 yards, with one interception and no touchdowns. In the 2011 season he posted a 65.4 percent completion rating while racking up 1,448 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions.
