Geraldo Boldewijn Suspended For Boise State's First 4 Games

Boise State wide receiver Geraldo Boldewijn will miss the first four games of the 2012 season for the Broncos, a suspension handed down for receiving extra benefits. The school announced the punishment on Friday, which stems from Boldewijn accepting financial assistance from his high school host family for booking a flight home to the Netherlands.

A native of Amsterdam, Boldewijn attended Capital High in Boise to play prep football in an effort to earn a college scholarship. He has since repaid that host family for the money lent to him to fly back to the Netherlands.

Boldewijn missed time in the 2011 season while the NCAA investigated the Broncos for several violations across multiple sports. He had 19 catches for 266 yards and scored two touchdowns last season for Boise.

The Broncos open the season on the road at Michigan State, before hosting Miami (OH) and BYU. They then travel to New Mexico for the fourth game of the season on Sept. 29. Boldewijn will return for their first game in October at Southern Miss.
