The depleted Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver corps took another blow Saturday when head coach Bob Stoops announced sophomore wide receiver Kameel Jackson was dismissed from the team.
The dismissal marks the end of a tumultuous offseason for Jackson and the Sooners. Jackson was one of four players suspended indefinitely in May for a violation of team rules. On Twitter, Jackson said the suspension was due to his, "failure to meet my class attendance policy."
Following the suspension Jackson announced he was planning to transfer to Texas A&M although he later decided to stay at Oklahoma. Earlier this week, Stoops said he would review Jackson's suspension now that the receiver completed summer classes.
Jackson caught 12 passes for 165 yards during his freshman season. His dismissal is another blow for the Sooners wide receivers group which already lost incoming receiver Courtney Gardner last week.
