The Colorado Buffaloes have suspended wide receiver Jeffrey Thomas and tight end DaVaughn Thornton for two games after the great air gun incident of 2012, coach Jon Embree announced Wednesday. Linebacker Jermane Clark is also leaving the program in part due to the escapade, which at one point involved players allegedly launching strong language ("Shoot me, [expletive]!" at police officers.
With top receiver Paul Richardson already done for the year due to injury, the Buffs were already looking thin and inexperienced out wide. The good news for CU fans, perhaps, is that none of the three was expected to make much of an impact against Colorado State or Sacramento State. Thornton and Clark were both listed low on the depth chart, and Thomas is a freshman.
Jered Bell, Keenan Canty, Joshua Moten, Paul Vigo, and Derrick Webb were also present during the event, according to the police report.
