Wyoming Vs. Texas Final Score: Longhorns Solid In 37-17 Victory

The No. 15 Texas Longhorns beat the Wyoming Cowboys 37-17 on Saturday in Austin, Texas at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

The Longhorns overcame a rough first quarter which saw the Cowboys jump to a 9-7 lead before scoring 24 unanswered points between the second and third quarter to take control of the game. Joe Bergeron's 17-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter put the game out of reach after Wyoming had closed the gap to 31-17 early in the fourth quarter.

Texas coach Mack Brown had promised a more balanced offensive attack by the Longhorns in 2012 and that is exactly what he delivered, with Texas gaining 280 yards on the ground and 156 yards through the air. David Ash was solid as the Longhorns starting quarterback, going 20-of-27 for 156 yards and a touchdown before being pulled late in the game.

The difference in the game was the Texas defense, which recovered from a shaky start to force several turnovers while the game was still within reach for Wyoming, and they dominated the Cowboys physically in the second half.Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro intercepted Wyoming QB Brett Smith with Carrington Bynum adding an interception the very next drive.

Box Score Hero: The dual-threat rushing attack of Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron combined for 215 yards on 29 attempts and three touchdowns.

Rankings Ramifications: The Texas standing at No. 15 should stand true again after this win, although voters may penalize the Longhorns for failing to secure a bigger win.

But Did They Cover? Texas failed to cover the 38-point spread.
