Gene Chizik was quick to respond to questions about a potential NCAA investigation of Auburn running back Jovon Robinson with a no-comment comment, but Jon Solomon of AL.com is reporting that a former high school coach of Robinson's confirms there's an investigation ongoing.
Former Wooddale assistant football coach Courtney Rogers (a former wide receiver at the University of Tennessee) gave a brief comment that confirmed he was questioned by investigators:
"(The NCAA) talked to me and I'm going to leave it at that," Rogers said. "I'm not up for doing an interview."
Marcus Rogers, his brother, was a previous coach at Wooddale and has also claimed to have talked to the NCAA, says Solomon.
Rogers, now a coach at another Memphis area high school, was a coach at Wooddale while Robinson was being recruited by several major universities. In addition, Robinson was invited to travel to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio in November. The game is a showcase of top high school talent across the country.
Robinson was ruled academically ineligible by the NCAA after a Wooddale counselor was found to have changed a grade on his transcript.
