David Wang Injury: Virginia Tech LG Carted Off Field

Stay connected with SB Nation

Virginia Tech left guard David Wang was carted off the field during the third quarter of the Hokies game against Pitt. Wang's foot was rolled up on by massive VT quarterback Logan Thomas. Wang was being pushed back into the pocket when Thomas was chucked in the chest by Pitt rusher Aaron Donald. Thomas went flying into the back of Wang's legs, and the guard instantly went down in pain. An animated gif of the play:

Wang, a redshirt junior, fractured his foot against East Carolina early in the season last year. The injury ended his season just eight snaps into the Hokies second game.

The trainers removed his shoe and sock on his left foot to attend to him before he was carted off. Sophomore Matt Arkema came on to replace Wang at guard. The Hokies trail Pitt, 21-10, in the middle of the third quarter.
