The USC Trojans seemed pretty confident going into their road game with the Stanford Cardinal.
Things did not turn as expected.
With regards to Stanford highlights, perhaps the best play encapsulating USC's horrifying night was Josh Nunes juking out several Trojan defenders for a first down that set up the game-winning touchdown connection to Zach Ertz.

The Cardinal player of the game on offense was Stepfan Taylor though, starting off perhaps his best game as a Stanford pro with excellent moves in the open field to scoot toward the Cardinal's opening touchdown.

Here's the official Stanford highlight reel, showcasing all three Cardinal touchdowns. Two of them were Taylor creating big plays as he made numerous USC defenders miss on both his scores. The third was the game-winning connection between Nunes and Ertz.
Discuss the highlights with Stanford fans by heading on over to Rule of Tree, and the lowlights with USC fans by going to Conquest Chronicles.

USC Trojans running back Curtis McNeal left the field in pain after suffering an injury to what appeared to be his right side. He was able to walk off the field under his power. Shortly after McNeal was escorted into the locker room, Trojans running back Silas Redd also suffered an injury to his left arm.
With the ball at USC's 45-yard line and 7:39 remaining in the second quarter, the Trojans handed the ball off to Silas Redd in search for a five yard gain to pick up a first down. However, Redd was met by a pair of Stanford Cardinal defenders and stopped behind the line of scrimmage for not only a loss, but a forced turnover as Redd fumbled the ball.
It was the second time Redd lost a fumble this season. Stanford's Josh Mauro recovered the ball at the USC 42, allowing the Cardinal offense to take over with good field position.
With the Trojans losing their two top running backs, the Trojans turned to 6-foot, 250 pound freshman Soma Vainuku. After just a few plays with Vainuku, McNeal was able to return to action and take over running duties for the Trojans.

Earlier, we looked at Auburn and UL Monroe swapping scoring styles. Now, here we have Stanford scoring in USC fashion via a good-lookin', speedy breakaway by a nimble Stepfan Taylor, with some nifty moves and lots of winks for the ladies and high-fives for the camera ...

... and USC scoring by way of Cardinal-esque HRRRRRRRRNNNNNNGGGGGHHHH HEAVY-LIFTING*:

Next we'll see Ole Miss and Texas scoring points on each oth-ha ha ha that's not gonna happen at all.
* Sure, fine, that was set up by a 49-yard scamper by Nelson Agholor. Just let me have my theme.

Stanford's band is composed of people who are smarter than you and will at some point be richer than you. They are also wackier than you:

USC's trip to Stanford could have a major impact on the college football Top 25 and alter the national title race. But, with TV in play, it could be even bigger than that.
