Kentucky and Louisville meet up for the 2012 season opener with the Cardinals as the favorite to win this in-state rivalry matchup. Louisville is being picked by some to win the Big East this season, for what it's worth. But this year's campaign starts with the Wildcats, who are getting 50/1 odds to win the East and 200/1 to win the SEC.
Even though the Cardinals are a favorite, opening the season with a win over an SEC opponent will be good for them if they can make it happen. Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Bedford is certainly interested to see how his unit is going to come out:
"When the lights come on, people start cheering and you hear 'My Old Kentucky Home,' you don't know what's going to happen. They might start crying. I might needs some Pampers," Bedford quipped. "I don't know what they are going to do."
Game time, TV channel: 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Point spread: Louisville is favored by 13 or 14 points and the over/under is 42.5 points.
