The West Virginia Mountaineers and Maryland Terrapins will meet in a out-of-conference battle this weekend. The Mountaineers are 2-0 and are ranked No. 8 in the nation, while the Terrapins are 2-1 and are coming off a tough loss to Connecticut.
West Virginia ranks second in the nation with 386 passing yards per-game, which led to 42-plus points in both of their games this season. The Mountaineers are led by quarterback Geno Smith, who has received early Heisman Trophy praise. Smith has thrown for 734 yards and nine touchdowns, all while completing 88 percent of his passes. Running back Shawne Alston does a nice job balancing the offensive attack, rushing for 185 yards and three touchdowns.
Maryland has seen inconsistent play from freshman quarterback Perry Hills through three weeks in the season. Hills has thrown for 444 yards and three touchdowns, but four interceptions have held the offense back at times. He can also run the football, although he's rushed 38 times for just 44 yards and two scores.
