There is a new No. 2 in town. On the strength of their 49-0 victory over the Arizona Wildcats, the Oregon Ducks have overtaken the LSU Tigers and landed at No. 2 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.
New No. 3 LSU had trouble topping the unranked Auburn Tigers and fell a spot, 68 points behind the Ducks.
The poll, released early Sunday, most rewarded the Kansas State Wildcats for their weekend performance, jumping the Wildcats from No. 15 to No. 7 after their upset victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Okla.
The Wildcats, and the rest of the country, continue to trail the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, which collected 59 of the poll's 60 first-place votes. LSU received one first-place vote.
Along with Alabama and LSU, the SEC boasts four of the top six teams in the poll, as the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks maintain their strong overall support from voters. The Florida State Seminoles landed at No. 4 after beating the Clemson Tigers on Saturday night.
