2012 Nebraska Vs. UCLA Highlights: Bruins Safety The Turning Point

The UCLA Bruins defense managed a huge safety to help lift Johnathan Franklin, Brett Hundley, and the offense to a huge victory.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers and the UCLA Bruins put on an offensive fireworks show in the Rose Bowl Saturday night, racking up the yards with reckless abandon. Taylor Martinez and Ameer Abdullah were piling up highlight reel runs, with Martinez scampering for a 92 yard score and Abdullah piling up a few 10-plus yard carries on the game. That offensive output on the ground, combined with some steady connections with Martinez and Kenny Bell through the air, helped Nebraska pile up 24 first half points and over 300-plus yards of offense.

However, UCLA managed to keep Martinez in check as the game wore on, and then the Bruins came up with the crucial safety to put them up for good.

UCLA had plenty of highlight runs of their own that aren't featured, particularly from Johnathan Franklin. Franklin piled up his second straight 200+ rushing yard game, and Brett Hundley kept on being efficient through the air by completing over 60 percent of his passes for over 300 yards. The two connected on what turned out to be the clinching touchdown that you can see in the video above, as the Bruins offense seems tied to the overall well-being of these talented UCLA playmakers.
