Michigan Commit Burns Ohio State's Attempt At Poaching

It's never a good idea to burn bridges -- unless, I suppose, you're a four-star offensive lineman with offers from almost every major football program in the nation.

The Best Way To Get Kicked Out Of A Softball Game

If you're going to go down, might as well wear a python like a bracelet. You think gold bracelets are where it's at? Nope. It's all about the snake accessories.

Chris Bivins is a trendsetter.

Mike Leach, Marriage Counselor

Washington State head coach Mike Leach on anniversaries:

I think you should drop some hints that basically a smokin' hot experience is expected and required out of her based on the 11 years of commitment that you've enjoyed together ... Make sure she understands that two can play at this game and she's not gonna come out of this thing unscathed.

There's more at CougCenter and it's all hilarious.

The Most Ole Miss Document

It's entitled "Fan Dress Code Announced For 2012 Season."

Designated colors for fan attire have been determined for Ole Miss' 2012 football season, and a "white out" is planned for Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the season opener.

While Rebel Nation is encouraged to wear white for the Central Arkansas game on Sept. 1, the preferred color for other home games is red for UTEP, Texas and Auburn, while navy is the color of choice for Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and MSU.

Navy is also designated for road games at Alabama, Arkansas and Georgia, and fans should wear red at Tulane and LSU.

Can't win the party if you don't have the right uniform on, y'all.

Justin Blackmon Paid No Attention To 2002 MLB Draft

Justin Blackmon on aged former teammate Brandon Weeden:

"I didn't even know he was 25," Blackmon said of first meeting Weeden. "I went through my whole first year thinking he was our age. He was a class above me -- he was a redshirt freshman when I was a freshman -- and I had no idea. I didn't even know until after he was married. He had his wedding my second year and I was like, ‘Why are you getting married, man?' He's like, ‘Dude, I'm 25 years old, I don't have much longer.'"

Gary Bettman Owns Hockey Portion Of Abandoned Holiday

Technically, Gary Bettman has a point. The NHL's Winter Classic event did indeed do better than college football's New Year's Day offerings, despite only posting a disappointing 2.4 TV rating. That's because no college football games were played on New Year's Day, as college games cleared out to make room for NFL Sunday. Then again, the Winter Classic didn't happen on New Year's either, as it also wisely avoided the NFL. I'm confused too.

The following bowls had higher ratings than the NHL's event -- the ones in bold would've been played on New Year's Day in any other year:

West Virginia Is The Best Place In The World

West Virginia is beautiful, adventurous, half-insane, eager to impress you, filled with very nice people who know how to make fire, and home to Tudor's, the most dangerous fast food chain ever created. It also features like the funnest college football coach doing outdoorsman activities with the funnest college basketball coach in the middle of May. I can't imagine why anyone would ever want to be anywhere else.

Ohio State Secondary Violations Story May Be With Us Forever

Nobody cared when Ohio State announced some secondary NCAA violations a week ago. This is because they are NCAA violations, and also because they are secondary NCAA violations, the even less important sort of NCAA violations.

However, AD Gene Smith was quoted as tantalizing the imagination in a Wednesday interview with the Lantern:

Smith told The Lantern Tuesday the athletic department has 12 pending NCAA violations, and he doesn't know if they will be deemed primary or secondary violations.

"We've got 12 pending," Smith said. "It may turn out to be secondary. It may not."

And then issued a Thursday statement that there are no more major violations. Tune in tomorrow!

Arizona Wildcats Will Wear Copper Helmets To Honor State, Or Something

On the long list of meaningless, irrelevant reasons to add a new color or helmet to a jersey, Arizona's excuse for its new copper helmet is still admirably pointless:

The Wildcats will wear copper helmets as part of a "special helmet design" that will represent the state and the university, athletic director Greg Byrne said in his weekly "Wildcat Wednesdays" newsletter.
