Recap: Central Mich vs. Eastern Mich

Mount Pleasant, MI (Sports Network) - Dan LeFevour had three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns, as the Central Michigan Chippewas routed the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 56-8, in a Mid-American Conference matchup at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

LeFevour completed 16-of-22 passes for 318 yards, while he also carried 11 times for 44 yards. Kito Poblah had five catches for 126 yards and a touchdown in the win. Antonio Brown finished with four catches for 110 yards and a score for the Chippewas (5-1, 3-0 MAC), who have now won five in a row.

Corey Welch led EMU (0-5, 0-2) with 81 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. But Eagles quarterbacks Kyle McMahon and Alex Gillett combined for just 127 passing yards.

LeFevour got CMU on the board first with a 70-yard touchdown strike to Brown at the 8:51 mark of the opening quarter.

Five minutes later, LeFevour scored on a one-yard run to give the Chippewas a 14-0 lead.

LeFevour scored on another one-yard run at the 12:33 mark of the second quarter, capping an 11-play, 68-yard drive.

The Chippewas extended their lead to 28-0 on a 75-yard punt return by Brown with just under three minutes remaining in the first half.

The CMU offense got the ball back again with two minutes remaining in the half, following a quick three-and-out by the Eagles. LeFevour engineered a seven-play, 92-yard drive, capped by his 11-yard touchdown pass to Bryan Schroeder with 18 seconds on the clock.

The Chippewas received the kick in the second half and marched right down the field, and LeFevour found Kito Poblah for a 25-yard scoring strike to open a commanding 42-0 lead.

LeFevour padded his stats with a five-yard rushing touchdown with two minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Eastern Michigan's only score came on a one-yard run by Corey Welch at the 11:25 mark of the fourth quarter.

CMU's Carl Volny rounded out the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run with seven minutes to play.

After losing four of the previous five meetings in the head-to-head series, CMU completely dominated this matchup. The Chippewas held a commanding 521-255 edge in total offense.
