The Gophers held the lead for much of the second half at TCF Bank Stadium, but wound up falling just a bit short in their Big Ten Opener against the Wildcats of Northwestern.
Dan Persa threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns to lead coach Pat Fitzgerald's Wildcats past the Golden Gophers. It's the Cats' best start since 1962.
