2013 undrafted free agents: Orhian Johnson signs with Houston Texans

After going undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft, Ohio State safety Orhian Johnson has landed on his feet, agreeing to an undrafted free agent contract with the Houston Texans. Johnson was rated as the No. 18 best strong safety prospect (though he played free safety primarily in college) and the 459th best prospect overall, per CBSSports.com. He joins Ohio State classmates Zach Boren and Travis Howard as having inked UDFA deals with the Texans.

Johnson's got great NFL size and athleticism to match. He's flexible enough to possibly bulk up and play strong safety at the NFL level, but was also an effective weapon at free safety while in college. He plays fast and even if he's just relegated to special teams initially, he can make an impact for the team that brings him on board.

With only one year in famed former Florida/current Ohio State strength and conditioning coach Mick Marotti's system, Johnson will still need some additional NFL conditioning to take the wear and tear of a full 16 game season. If he improves his awareness and works as hard as he's capable of with his playbook, it's possible Johnson catches on and makes a career out of it.

The Texans' secondary has historically never been strong during their franchises tenure. Former Bengal Johnathan Joseph has brought stability to the fold, and the addition of Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Famer Ed Reed certainly helps. Still, given the lack of real depth at both safety spots, if Johnson brings his a-game in minicamps, it's not at all impossible that he earns a spot with the club or is signed to a practice squad deal at the end of the summer.

The Houston Texans agreed to a post-draft undrafted free agent contract with Ohio State cornerback Travis Howard. Howard was rated as the No. 33 best cornerback prospect in this year's draft class by SB Nation's Dan Kadar.

"Can Howard start in the NFL? Probably not. He lacks to quickness to be a true shutdown cornerback on Sundays, and most scouts think his trim build won't allow him to fix that in his pro career. But he has the hands and the ability to certainly contribute on special teams and as a reserve corner. The NFL says his pro comparison is Cortez Allen, which is fair, if not a bit too optimistic. But if he lives up to that comparison, he's going to be a very valuable third or fourth round pick to an NFL general manager." - LGHL's Chris Kopech

Howard's ranginess really stands out. He has good instincts which, when combined with his 6'1 frame, makes him a very difficult corner to throw against. Howard has excellent ball skills, and isn't afraid to lay down big hits. He works very hard as a run defender.

That said, Howard may not have the quickness needed to transition to the NFL. His length is a hindrance in this case. Howard is also lanky, and may struggle against bulkier receivers. After he spends some time in the weight room, perhaps a transition to safety is in store.

Howard joins a team that already includes former Ohio State wide receiver DeVier Posey in a secondary that's far from set. Ex-Bengal Johnathan Joseph is the leader of the secondary, both in terms of on the field performance and vocalness, though the addition of Super Bowl champ and veteran Ed Reed could change the latter. Kareem Jackson is the other starter at corner, though his on the field play has been a mixed bag since the Texans took him as a first rounder out of Alabama.

With Brandon Harris, Brice McCain, and Roc Carmichael composing the likely returning veterans and no incoming cornerbacks added through the draft, it's possible Howard gets some looks at the cornerback position. If, as others have projected, free safety is more his target destination, he'll be battling Shiloh Keo, a third year safety out of Idaho, for the honors of backing up Reed.

Expect special teams to be the most likely place for Howard to make his impact if he makes the Texans' 53 man 2013 regular season roster. It's also conceivable he starts from the practice squad before earning a shot at becoming a regular for the defending AFC South champs.

So you drafted Ohio State's Travis Howard?

Travis Howard has been through a lot at Ohio State; there's an understatement for you. When he arrived out of Dr. Krop High School in Miami, it was 2008, Jim Tressel was the football coach, coming off of a second straight national title game pasting at the hands of a more talented SEC outfit. Suddenly, the power running offenses of the Big Ten weren't enough to bash through SEC defenses, and the fabled "SEC speed" was too much for the rugged defensive lines of the Midwest.

Put simply, Travis Howard was supposed to help alleviate some of the latter issues for the Ohio State defense, and supposed to be the future, prototypical defensive back that Ohio State would need to begin building their teams around. And for the most part, Howard accomplished a very high percentage of that goal while he was with the Buckeyes.

The phrase "shutdown corner" gets lofted around a lot, and it is a title that was given to Howard as he went from reserve defensive back and special teamer in his first three years in Columbus, to starting cornerback in his redshirt junior year, to All Big Ten player in his redshirt senior year as part of Ohio State's undefeated 2012 season, the first under coach Urban Meyer.

Howard showed impressive speed and skill at the cornerback position, especially in his final two years at Ohio State. His stats aren't too gaudy over those last two years: 81 total tackles, 11 passes defended, and six interceptions. But that's the issue with being a good cornerback - they don't throw to your side when you're that good. How exemplified that for a great many plays in scarlet and gray.

But Howard does have a few negatives that bear mention. On some occasions, he would often get caught over-covering, often leading to receivers more open than they should be, and long gains on big downs. For as many times as a Buckeye fan would yell "Whoooo Travis Howard" there would always be a few "Booooo Travis Howard" calls mixed in.

As an NFL prospect, Howard comes in at 6'1" and 200 lbs, and his wingspan was one of the more impressive things to NFL scouts. Howard has an undeniable nose for the ball, something that has paid off with his interceptions, but has cost him and the Buckeyes at times due to receivers getting an extra step. That's a big knock, considering NFL receivers typically aren't of the same ilk as walk-ons at Purdue. But to Howard's credit, he's smartened up considerably from his first few years as a Buckeye, and scouts like the learning factor.

An Ohio State guide to the 2013 NFL Draft

Since the 2000 NFL Draft, Ohio State leads all NCAA football programs by having 82 of their players drafted during the yearly seven round event. Of those 82 draft picks, 17 Buckeyes have been taken in the 1st round of the draft, which ranks only behind Miami and USC.

The most notable year for the Buckeyes over the past 13 drafts was back in 2004 when they had a draft-record 14 players chosen over the 255 selections. The group of Buckeyes selected in the 2004 draft was a big portion of the nucleus of the 2002 Ohio State that won the BCS title, so in looking back it shouldn't be all that surprising that so many Buckeyes were taken in 2004.

Not to be outdone, just a couple years later Ohio State set another record, when they had 5 players drafted in the 1st round in 2006. A.J. Hawk, Donte Whitner, Bobby Carpenter, Santonio Holmes, and Nick Mangold were all taken within the first 29 picks of the draft in 2006. While Ohio State has had 5 players drafted overall in the same draft 26 times, having 5 players taken in the 1st round alone is an accomplishment that will be awfully hard to match in the future.

While the draft accomplishments of the Buckeyes have been lengthy since 2000, there were many more in drafts prior to then that we shouldn't forget about.

Three times an Ohio State standout has been chosen with the number 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. The first was Tom Cousineau back in 1979 when he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills. In 1994 Dan "Big Daddy" Wilkinson was chosen by the Cincinnati Bengals, while just a few years later Orlando Pace was chosen first overall by the St. Louis Rams.

In the 1995-1998 seasons Ohio State went 43-7 and won the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl. Their drafts during that time period magnified the type of talent that was coming to Columbus. Between the 1995 and 1999 draft, Ohio State had 11 players hear their name called in the first round, including standouts like Joey Galloway, Eddie George, Pace, and Antoine Winfield.

The Buckeyes trail only USC in the count of first round picks in NFL Draft history, with USC claiming 73 and Ohio State having 66 first round picks.

The first Buckeye to come off the board should be defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins, but the question is whether he will hear his name called on Thursday or Friday. The second to last SB Nation 2013 NFL Mock Draft had Hankins being scooped up by the Colts with the 24th pick, while their final one (and most other mock drafts) has Big Hank sliding into the 2nd round. While this is a far cry from a few months ago when it was thought that Hankins might go in the top 10, it seems par for the course for what is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable NFL Drafts in history.

The next two players from Ohio State to come off the board should be defensive end John Simon and tight end turned offensive tackle Reid Fragel. A popular landing spot for Simon seems to be Pittsburgh, who has made a habit of bringing Buckeyes into the fold, drafting four Buckeyes in the last three drafts.

Fragel has been making some noise recently, and there is a possibility that we could hear his name called before Friday night's portion of the draft is over. In his only season on the offensive line at right tackle, Fragel still earned honorable mention accolades on the All-Big Ten team. With his already quick adjustment to the position, with a couple more years of tutelage Fragel could be a diamond in the rough for some team that is willing to take a chance on him.

Other Buckeyes that will be hoping to hear their named called this weekend are Jake Stoneburner, Zach Boren, Travis Howard, Garrett Goebel, Orhian Johnson, and Nathan Williams. Signs are pointing to the latter of those players having to catch on with a team via the undrafted free agent route, but it isn't out of the question for them to slide into the last round or two and hopefully make some team very happy someday.

NFL Draft 2013: Ohio State stock watch

Now that the hoops season has ended and the spring game has come and gone, we'll take a look at some former Buckeyes ready to enter their first season in the NFL. There have been some drastic changes since the end of the football season, as scouting reports, combine performances, pro days, and groupthink have all contributed to opinions and prognostications of prospects. We'll take a look at what progress has been made for each notable Buckeye prospect, and which teams could be interested going forward.

Johnathan Hankins, DT

Big Hank has seen his stock fall from mid-first rounder to second-day pick. Judging on physical talent alone he is a first-round prospect. Unfortunately after looking at some tape, some scouts saw a player who took plays off and could not create a consistent pass rush up the middle. With Hankins, the "motor" questions have been too much and have knocked him into second round consideration. Rob Rang of CBS has him ranked as the 6th-rated defensive tackle and 43rd player on his Big Board, while Walter Cherepinsky of Walterfootball.com has him with a second-round grade. That doesn't mean that he couldn't go in the first round to a team needing a defensive tackle, however.

Good Fits: We all know now that there's a pipeline between Ohio State and the Vikings. Just ask our own Ted Glover. The Vikes are a possible landing spot for Big Hank, with Kevin Williams entering the twilight of his career and not a whole lot behind him in the rotation. They could nab him with their second-round pick at 52. The Vikings would probably be an ideal destination for Big Hank, but other interested teams could include some 3-4 teams in need of a gap-plugger who can fit into a rotation immediately. Hankins may have motor questions but he is scheme-versatile, which means that teams running multiple defenses will have no problem drafting him. Don't be surprised if Hankins is in purple on April 28th.

Reid Fragel, T

Fragel's stock has done the opposite of Hankins' and has risen ever since his combine performance. Teams see good athleticism for the position and the ability to keep up with elite defensive ends. His technique needs a lot of work, so teams see him as a project, but according to Rang he "looks the part" and at this point has leaped all the way from a tight end whose football career was over once he left Columbus into a 5th-6th round draft pick. Some tackle-needy team may even take a flyer on him in the 4th.

Good Fits:

There are a lot of teams for whom tackle is not a primary need, but with one injury it will be. These teams are looking for depth at the position. Possible fits for Fragel include the Dolphins, Ravens and Browns as all three of these teams lack a lot of depth, especially with offseason losses. The Dolphins just lost Jake Long, so it's possible that they could even groom Fragel to be a starter at the left tackle position over time. Don't expect Fragel to start right away but he can make some contributions as a sub.

John Simon, DE

After the senior bowl, combine and pro day, it was well established that Simon is a classic "tweener" defensive end - one who some scouts think is too small for the 4-3 end but one who showed an inability to play in space and display the coverage skills needed to play an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. Simon will need to keep his hand on the ground in the NFL or he'll be completely overmatched, but teams will draft him for his effort and play recognition. Simon could go as early as the late 2nd round, but most prognosticators have him as a 3rd round or early 4th round pick.

Good Fits:

Teams with older or less deep defensive lines who need someone to spell them and give great effort off the bench. Simon at this point is a rotational player but a high-end one who could come in for quite a few plays at the defensive end spot in a 4-3. If he does play in a 4-3 system he will be drafted by a team who covets quickness over size and length in their defensive ends. Teams needing this type of player include the Jaguars, Lions (who just lost Kyle VandenBosch and Cliff Avril) and Falcons (who need someone to replace John Abraham). Look for Simon to be in Detroit blue as he is nearly the same size as Avril, and is a better leader. Scouts will like Simon's athleticism and he should get a chance to contribute right away.

Travis Howard, CB

Asking most draft experts about Travis Howard produces a resounding "meh". Howard is big for a corner, can tackle and has great ball skills but there's no denying he needs a lot of work on his technique. At this point Howard is probably a replacement-level cornerback in the league. Rang has him ranked 41st out of all cornerbacks in the draft. Most people think that he'll be a late-round pick if he gets picked at all.

Good Fits:

Every year, the Pittsburgh Steelers draft a tall, rangy corner in the late rounds who they think can contribute. Travis Howard is right out of that mold, and I almost expect to see him in black and gold down the road - if not now, then sooner or later if he becomes a free agent. He fits what they like to do almost exactly to a tee.

At this point in the game, it looks like all other Ohio State prospects (namely Zach Boren and Orhian Johnson) will have to be picked up as street free agents. It is highly unlikely that either of these guys will be drafted, and they will have to make their mark on special teams.

Exploring the Depths: Ohio State's 2013 defensive backs

Since the spring game is fast approaching (unbelievably enough) this will be the last entry in "Exploring the Depths", appropriately enough deep diving on the makeup of the Buckeyes' 2013 football depth chart. The defensive back positions are one of the strongest, most veteran-laden units on the team and should be a linchpin of the 2013 OSU D.

It starts and ends with Bradley Roby, the latest in a long, long line of shutdown Buckeye cornerbacks across the past three decades. Roby could have left for greener pastures in the NFL but instead decided to stay for what most pundits are saying will be one more year in order to ostensibly help the Buckeyes win a national title. With Travis Howard and his island departing for the NFL, it was imperative for the success of the defense that Roby stayed for his redshirt junior year. Roby is an incredibly instinctive player who has a nose for the ball, can break up passes without interfering, and doesn't hesitate to make a hard tackle on a sweep or outside run if necessary. He'll need to work on his hands, but his coverage skills are A+. He is the cornerstone (pardon the pun) of not only the defensive backfield but literally the entire defense.

By now you're all aware of Bradley Roby and his exploits, but the safeties will be equally important. Last year the defense still struggled at times to get themselves into the proper positions to make plays, and the loss of off-the-bench leader Orhian Johnson will certainly increase the pressure on starters Christian Bryant and CJ Barnett. Bryant and Barnett are both instinctive players who are risk-takers and are boom-or-bust players. The two seniors will be starters but could be in jeopardy of yielding some playing time if they don't play as expected during the spring or the season. Bryant is the "better" player and flashes more on tape, but Barnett is more depended on to be the leader and is a bit more steady than his counterpart at strong safety.

The "Star" position is one of Urban Meyer's favorites and is a holdover from the Tressel days. Tyvis Powell has been the biggest surprise of spring camps and has earned lots of respect and praise from Urban Meyer. The redshirt freshman is a strapping 6'3, 201 lbs and has impressed in the early going. He is a candidate to if not technically "start" per se, then at least compete for playing time when Ohio State goes to its nickel set. Corey "Pittsburgh" Brown is another player that has been singled out for leadership by Meyer and is expected to compete with Powell for on-field time. Right now, the position is really down to Powell and Brown to see who starts the spring game in nickel situations.

Behind Roby, there is a second cornerback spot that must be filled by the time the season starts. Doran Grant appears to be the next man up to fill that position right now, but he has some competition. Grant has the most experience, with a year of solid playing time under his belt. The rising junior and Akron native made 19 tackles last year, along with a sack and an interception. Grant and the aforementioned Roby are twins in stature, but Grant is more physical and less polished in his technique. Grant is more likely to end up with the job, but Adam Griffin (Archie's son) will push him for that spot. The 5'9, 183 lb redshirt junior was not highly rated but seems to be around the ball when he gets playing time. However, it looks like Griffin's contributions will be largely on special teams or in a multiple-corner formation.

The recruiting class certainly brought in some potential superstars. Five-stars Vonn Bell (safety) and Eli Apple (corner) will push the veterans for playing time. Apple is the most likely to see the field early, especially since the rangy freshman was an early enrollee and that usually pays dividends. Gareon Conley and Cameron Burrows (another early enrollee) are less-heralded but still four-star prospects who will provide depth. Safety and Toledo native Jayme Thompson, athlete Christopher Worley, and New Albany native son Darron Lee round out the class and could be considered for either predominately special team duties or possible redshirts.

Depth players at the corner position include Armani Reeves, Najee Murray (who received some shine last year in mop-up duty before going down with a season ending injury) and walk-on Nik Sarac. For the safeties, Devan Bogard and Ron Tanner will provide special teams stardom, along with Russell Doup and former kicker-turned-safety Kevin Niehoff. Niehoff may have some usable skills as well, and don't be surprised to see him in mop-up duty as well if necessary and if the freshman safeties redshirt.

A quick shout-out to the special teamers: Drew Basil is listed as a K/P, which is interesting but not exactly surprising considering the last-minute flip of Johnny Townsend to Florida. Kyle Clinton and Tim Scott are listed as kickers on the roster, but the main competition to Basil will be Jake Russell, a sophomore punter from Twinsburg. However, most observers expect Basil to pull double duty this year. At long snapper, Bryce Haynes will continue his duties as a redshirt sophomore, and George Makridis will back him up.

B1G Review and Preview: Ohio State Buckeyes

B1G Standing: 1st Place- Leaders Division, 1st Place overall (yeah, I know they technically didn't win...but come on now)

Offensive Stat Leaders: Passing: Braxton Miller: 2,039 yards, 15 TDs, 6 INTs (58.3 comp %)... Rushing: Miller: 227 att., 1271 yards, 13 TDs... Receiving: Corey Brown: 60 recs., 669 yards, 3 TDs

Defensive Stat Leaders: Tackles: Ryan Shazier: 115 (70 solo, 45 assisted)... Sacks: John Simon: 9...Interceptions: Travis Howard: 4

If AD Gene Smith could time travel, what do you think the odds are he goes back to November 2011 and announces a self-imposed bowl ban of that subpar (.500 regular) season for the Buckeyes?

At the time, it made a sort of sense; Ohio State wasn't sure what sanctions, if any, it might receive from the NCAA--let alone who would come along to take the reigns from (temporary) head coach Luke Fickell. In hindsight, however, with new coach Urban Meyer and his tailor-made-for-Braxton-Miller offense, this was possibly the stupidest thing for the Buckeye athletic department to do, as the 2012 team would go on to be undefeated but ineligible not only to compete for an outright Big Ten title, but arguably for a National Championship as well (because, for as much as we hate the Buckeyes, at least their defenders this year didn't tackle air).

Putting all of your offensive eggs in one basket can be very, very dangerous--or it can pay off in dividends. It was both for Meyer's Buckeyes in 2012, as Miller was indisputably their entire offense (see the stats above), though backup Kenny Guiton was serviceable in coming into OSU's close game against the Boilermakers, and leading them to a hard-fought victory.

Last year's schedule was arguably very favorable for the Buckeyes, hosted all of their non-conference games as well as key cross-divisional games against Nebraska and Michigan (and inevitable Achilles' Heel Purdue). Preseason, their two toughest tests on the road were at Michigan State and at Wisconsin, and those games certainly lived up to the billing, with OSU winning by a combined 8 points. And preseason it looked like a walk, but the game at Penn State turned out to be a tough one for the Buckeyes.

Ultimately, Ohio State did what it could do, beat every team in front of it, and ended the season ranked a paltry (in this blogger's opinion) #3 in the AP poll, the only post-season ranking for which it was eligible (I mean, I get Oregon was good--but they had a loss, and didn't play for the MNC. So, OSU should've been #2).

A Quick Look Ahead

Or, as I'll go ahead and call it, the Urban Meyer effect.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves; Ohio State pretty much always has been, and always will be, a recruiting tour de force, a program that will sell itself to much of the nation. Combine that with vaunted recruiter Meyer, and you'll have a top ten recruiting class EVERY. DAMN. YEAR.

Last year's class started off relatively slow for the Buckeyes, with their OMGARCHRIVAL Michigan getting the bulk of the B1G news, but OSU pulled ahead late, and compiled a whopping 20 combined 4- and 5-star recruits (according to 247). That's some heavy hitting right there.

Way too early prediction: 10-2 (6-2 in B1G)

Ohio State 2013 Schedule

I can't let my distaste for all things Buckeye (except you, Humble--you're cool with me) to cloud my objectivity, unfortunately, though I did resist the urge to predict a perfect regular season for OSU.

Miller's back. So is Meyer. Perhaps most importantly, though, is the return of four of their offensive line starters--a line that, in addition to protecting and springing Miller (sometimes by questionable means), allowed starting running back Carlos Hyde (also returning next year) to gain 970 yards in ten games. Yeah, their offense will be stellar--and their defense will be good enough to have them win.

So, why not a perfect season? I'm just not thinking lightning strikes two years in a row. I think the Buckeyes had luck on their side last year, winning two games in OT and another (MSU) by one point in regulation. That pendulum will likely swing the other way this year, but if pressed to name which two teams will beat Ohio State, I'm going to give you a big, fat I DON'T KNOW.

But I sure hope it's Indiana.

2013 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Free Agency, Full 7-Round Mock

Who doesn't love mock drafts? The answer, 99.9% of the time, is no one. Seems like Jason is posting one, or a roundup of a bunch, everyday. Myself (@dklausner), Mike Kaye (@mike_e_kaye), Anders Jensen (@Mjoedgaard) and Anthony Hart (@KeeepSwinging) all got together for what will be the round table's penultimate full mock draft (look for another one in three weeks). All seven rounds and 254 picks of awesomeness! So, without further ado....

Ohio State football: A defense in transition

There were a lot of moments in 2012 where the Ohio State defense seemingly hit rock bottom. Pick any number of games, and you could say to yourself 'well, it's not going to get any worse than this. They'll get better.'

And they would improve, for a quarter, or a half, or a game. And then Cal would happen, or a lackluster effort in the Nebraska blowout would rear its ugly head.

Then there was the near disaster at Indiana, the nadir for the defense in 2012.

They slowly improved over the last five games after the debacle in Bloomington, but the normally dominant defense was just okay last year, something that will unquestionably need to change in 2013.

There's only one problem: the two most dominant players, John Simon and Jonathan Hankins, have left for NFL fame and fortune. Replacing their leadership and ability while simultaneously regaining the form that made the defense the mainstay of Ohio State for so long isn't an impossible task – but it's not easy, either.

Probably the best news Ohio State received at the end of the 2012 season was that CB Bradley Roby would be returning for his redshirt junior season. There were two players that had a decent chance of leaving early, Roby and Hankins. Of the two, it was far more important for Roby to return than Big Hank, simple because the depth on the defensive line could absorb his loss more than the secondary could absorb Roby's loss. And with the graduation ofTravis Howard, Roby will be the leader of the secondary, that includes returning safeties C.J. Barnett and Christian Bryant.

Speaking of the defensive line, even though all the starters from last year are gone, it's the one area Urban Meyer has arguably over-recruited since he came to Columbus. Noah Spence, Adolphus Washington, Tommy Schutt, Joey Bosa, and ~~Se'Veon Pittman~~ will form the nucleus of what should become one of the youngest, fastest, and most talented defensive lines in college football. It's not that talent that is a concern, however. It's the ledership, or lack of it, that has even the head coach worried.

John Simon's departure leaves a huge leadership void that even Coach Meyer has said worries him. Meyer's praise of Simon has been so effusive that it's reached the Tim Tebow level – which would nauseate many if they weren't Ohio State fans. Still, it drives home how instrumental Simon was as a leader, and as a guy who set a positive example for the younger players to emulate.

That responsibility will fall not only on Roby, but Ryan Shazier. Shazier's talent is undeniable, and by the end of the 2012 season he was playing as well as anyone in the country at linebacker. Shazier's play as a freshman stood out late in the 2011 crapapalooza season, and carried over into 2012. He started out slow, but finished strong and will look to continue that momentum into the 2013 season. And as Shazier is the only starter returning among the front seven, the other players will look to him to set an example, both on and off the field.

Ohio State's talent level at the two deep on defense is, on paper, probably the best it's been in a long, long time. They have the potential to be freakishly good, with speed on the defensive line and at the linebacker positions we haven't seen in Columbus or anywhere else in the conference. But with seven new starters, they'll have to learn fast, and look to guys like Ryan Shazier and Bradley Roby to lead the way.

If they do that, and if Roby and Shazier step up to the plate, there is no stopping this defense.

NFL Draft 2013: What they're saying about Ohio State's pro day

Every spring, universities and colleges across the country hold pro days, where NFL scouts are invited to watch players workout and participate in drills not unlike the NFL's combine. At those individuals' colleges (or in some cases, former college), representatives from many of the NFL's brass grade and critique the individual performances of recent graduates/pro declarations (and in some cases former NFL types looking to recapture the glory).

Ohio State's 2013 spring day took place Friday morning from the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. 29 of the NFL's 32 clubs were in attendance to check out a group that included tight end/wide receiver Jake Stoneburner, defensive lineman Johnathan Hankins, LB Etienne Sabino, FB/LB Zach Boren, OT Reid Fragel, DE John Simon, DB/ST Zach Domicone, DB Travis Howard, DB Orhian Johnson, DE Nathan Williams, amongst others.

While none of these players will likely hear their names called during April's 2013 NFL Draft's first round, a number of them have legitimate shots to be chosen on the second and third days. Others will have to climb their way up from the bottom of NFL free agency, but given their pedigree, they'll at least have a shot.
