Cincinnati at Pittsburgh:

Jared: Can the Wanstache win the big game? I say no, even if Brian Kelly has one foot out the door. Pick: Cincinnati

Dominic: I like the Bearcats in this matchup, even in Pittsburgh. Cinci has been getting better and better throughout the year and even though this might be their one chance to slip up, I just don't see it. Oh, and Tony Pike is the man. Pick: Cincinnati

Jeremy: I just can't get the image of Pittsburgh's Sun Bowl against OSU out of my head. And more undefeated AQ teams just makes the BCS that much more flawed. Pick: Cincinnati

West Virginia at Rutgers:

Jared: West Virginia is not favored, but the S&P stats give them a 10 point advantage. When the disparity is that large, I gotta go with the Mountaineers. Pick: West Virginia

Dominic: I like West Virginia's gutsy win against Pitt last week and even though Rutgers has recovered from a horrible loss to Cinci early in the season, I think the Mountaineers pull off this one big. Pick: West Virginia

Jeremy: I'm trying to recall if I've seen Rutgers play even one game this year. West Virginia just feels like the safer pick. Pick: West Virginia

Florida vs Alabama:

Jared: For as much crap as he takes on this site, Tim Tebow is one of the best college players of the decade, and he can do it all. Both teams have great defenses, but Tebow will be the difference in the game. Pick: Florida

Dominic: The Tebow-era is finally coming to a close and no one is happier about this than me. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player but I'm just tired of the circus. Because I'm so tired of it, I don't want to hear about how great he will be when he wins "another national title". I want to see TCU vs. Florida in the Sugar Bowl so I'm rooting for the home team. Go Bama! Roll Tide! Pick: Alabama

Jeremy: Come on. This game is all about...Timmmmaaaay! He's gonna roll the Tide because Saban's a jerk and he's going to continue to get beat on the biggest stages. That, and because Lane Kiffin says "Alabama has better coaching". Lots of bad karma for 'Bama. Jeez, Kiffin drop the cry baby act with Florida already. Pick: Florida

Arizona at USC (-8):

Jared: I think Arizona has a great chance to win this game. They have an offense that can move the ball very well, and a stout defense. They are balance enough to take on USC (who they always play very tough). Pick: Arizona

Dominic: 8 points is a lot of points and the way Arizona has been playing as of late, I think they cover. They may not win but I can't resist taking the Wildcats in this pick. Pick: Arizona

Jeremy: USC's defense just isn't all that this year. Foles can put a nice Holiday Bowl wrap on his breakout year in the Pac-10. I also like the speed on UA's defense. The group of loser Wildcat fans who threw crap at Oregon don't deserve this, but their team has played well this year. Pick: Arizona

New Mexico State at Boise State (-44):

Jared: I literally flipped an internet coin on this one. Tails it is! Pick: Boise State

Dominic: 44 points is a lot but New Mexico State is not a good football team. I'm taking the Broncos. Pick: Boise State

Jeremy: One more chance for Boise State to make a statement. Of course it mostly falls on deaf ears, because, well, they're playing New Mexico State (aka Washington State according to one blogger who made me laugh earlier today). Pick: Boise State

It's now the time to feature the games that will affect the Mountain West's BCS possibilities during this rivalry week. This is a great weekend of college football with big games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

For probably the first time ever, there is a more important game in the Mountain West than the Holy War during rivalry week. Lost in the hype of the BYU vs. Utah game is the (11-0) TCU Horned Frogs, who are looking to finish undefeated against New Mexico.

Still four teams remain ranked ahead of the TCU, whose national championship hopes may be soon coming to a close. They will need losses ahead of them, and this week poses a greater challenge for those teams than prior weeks.

Here is a look at games this weekend that will affect the Mountain West in their BCS hunt:

All times are eastern

New Mexico at No. 4 TCU (The Mtn. HD, 1:00 PM Saturday)

One of the most lopsided matchups in MWC history. The Horned Frogs are a 45 point favorite over the Lobos. ESPN's Accuscore is giving New Mexico a 0% chance of winning.

MWC rooting interest: TCU. What a great scene it will be for the TCU program when they crush New Mexico and finish the season undefeated at home. They will be locked into a BCS bowl, but need teams ahead of them to lose to get into the BCS National Championship.

No. 3 Texas at Texas A&M (ESPN HD, 8:00 PM Thursday)

A Thanksgiving prime time game featuring the (11-0) Longhorns and the (5-6) Aggies in this in-state rivalry game.

MWC rooting interest: Texas A&M. If Texas loses, TCU will go to No. 3 in the polls, and would eventually jump the loser of the SEC Championship game putting them in the National Championship Game. Texas A&M will be playing at home where they are (5-1) this season. This will be tough, but it is possible for an upset. If Texas wins as expected, Nebraska will be have the last shot at ruining their perfect season in the Big 12 Championship Game.

No. 2 Alabama at Auburn (CBS HD, 2:30 PM Friday)

Alabama faces a tough challenge this week against their bitter rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

MWC rooting interest: Auburn. This should be a good game. Auburn is a good team, they are (7-4) and are looking to improve their bowl situation, plus gain bragging rights in the state of Alabama. An Alabama loss should drop them below TCU, but if they defeat Florida they could jump back over TCU.

Florida State at No. 1 Florida (CBS HD, 3:30 PM Saturday)

ESPN College GameDay will be on hand for Tim Tebow's last game at the Swamp.

MWC rooting interest: Florida State. The Seminoles crushed BYU's BCS hopes earlier this season, but could greatly improve TCU's with a win this week. Don't expect any upset though. Tim Tebow and the Gators are just too good to lose to this struggling Florida State team, especially in their last game at the Swamp this season. Likewise with Alabama, a Florida loss drops them behind TCU, but winning the SEC could put them back in the top 2.

No. 21 Utah at No. 19 BYU (The Mtn. HD/ CBS-C HD, 5:00 PM Saturday)

It's rivalry week in the Mountain West. The 2009 Holy War features two Top 25 ranked for just the third time ever.

MWC rooting interest: Toss up. What would be best for the Mountain West, is to have both teams remain ranked after this game. One of the criteria for BCS AQ evaluation is how many teams are in the Top 25 at the end of the season. With BYU being ranked higher, they are more likely to remain ranked with a loss but it is more of a toss up for the conference.

Illinois at No. 5 Cincinnati (ABC HD, 12:00 PM Friday)

Cincinnati QB Tony Pike is going to be back in the lineup for the game against the struggling Illini.

MWC rooting interest: Illinois. Undefeated Cincinnati still can jump TCU with a win over Pittsburgh next week. Illinois' best hope is if Cincinnati overlooks them for their Big East showdown next week.

Nevada at No. 6 Boise State (ESPN2 HD, 10:00 PM Friday)

A win means another undefeated regular season for the Boise State Broncos, who are looking to get into the BCS as an at-large team.

MWC rooting interest: Boise State. They are not a threat to jump TCU, so we can now root for the Broncos. Multiple non-AQ teams in the BCS would be a great thing for all non automatic qualifier conferences. If the Mountain West expands to add Boise, the higher their ranking, the better the conference would be in BCS evaluations. (we will have more to come on that next week)

No. 18 Clemson at South Carolina (ESPN HD, 12:00 PM Saturday)

Clemson clinched their spot in the ACC Championship Game against Georgia Tech last week with their win over Virginia. They are the highest ranked team in the BCS standings that TCU has beaten.

MWC rooting interest: Clemson. The higher Clemson climbs in the polls, the stronger TCU's claim is to play in the National Title. They face a tough challenge playing in the SEC, but South Carolina is not playing well as of lately.

No. 9 Pittsburgh at West Virginia (ESPN2 HD, 7:00 PM Friday)

With a Pitt win, the stage will be set for the de facto Big East Championship Game against Cincinnati next week.

MWC rooting interest: West Virginia. A Pittsburgh loss greatly reduces the risk of Cincinnati jumping TCU and also improves Boise State's chances of getting into the BCS as an at-large team.

The Obligatory Predictions Competition - Week 13

Welcome to our Thanksgiving holiday edition of the OPC. Turkey, cranberry sauce, and corn muffins won't be the only things you stuff your face with over the next several days. This weekend is positively jammed packed with college games. Loosen your belt, sink into a soft recliner, and load up on these historic, hot button matchups.

Before we get started, one quick note. This week, and next week will be the final editions of our regular season predictions. After the championship games on December 5th, we'll crown a season winner. But don't fret. The following week we'll start anew, with The Obligatory Predictions Competition Bowl Edition. You'll have the chance to pick all 35 bowls at once, in a winner take all format. So if you didn't wipe the floor with your season picks, consider this a second chance.

Remember to get your picks in by 11:00 a.m. Friday!

1. ILLINOIS at No. 5 CINCINNATI, 12:00 p.m. EST (11/27), ABC

GRAHAMFILLER10 predicts CINCINNATI by 17

This game is a referendum on one coach's ability to create a successful offensive gameplan…and one coach's inability to draw any cohesiveness from his offensive squad. Hot Seat Coach in this game: Zook!

LAW BUCKEYE predicts CINCINNATI by 14

Yes, there's a small part of me that thinks the Illini might get a landmark upset that salvages their shipwrecked season. I thought the same thing before Illinois met Missouri in St. Louis for the season opener in 2008. Not even close. The Illini will overplay the pass, allowing Cincinnati to showcase its ability to run. Tony Pike struggles early, but rebounds to slice and dice the 89th worse defense in the FBS. My bet is this game is bad enough by 2:30 p.m. that you'll be ready to turn the dial to:

2. No. 2 ALABAMA at AUBURN, 2:30 p.m. EST (11/27), CBS

GRAHAMFILLER10 predicts ALABAMA by 14

A lack of good offensives in the SEC plus a stingy ‘Bama D equals 10 ppg allowed. ‘Bama hasn’t seen an offense like Auburn’s, but I doubt that these NFL-caliber defenders will lose sleep over Chizik’s misdirection.

LAW BUCKEYE predicts ALABAMA by 7

It's easy to forget in the wake of last year's 36-0 Alabama win, that the modern Iron Bowl has belonged to Auburn. Prior to being embarassed last year, the Tigers had seized the in-state showdown six years in a row. I like the physical chemistry of this matchup: Alabama's brute force against Auburn's speedy spread. The nation's No. 1 (Alabama's Mark Ingram) and No. 3 (Auburn's Ben Tate) rushers will be on display Saturday in a game that I suspect will lock up early. Alabama pushes and pulls its way to Atlanta with a perfect record.

3. FLORIDA STATE at No. 1 FLORIDA, 3:30 p.m. EST (11/28), CBS

GRAHAMFILLER10 predicts FLORIDA by 17

FSU hasn’t stopped anyone all year. Their defense is like the Maginot Line of college football: Easily circumvented, lacking interior strength, and no organization. Hot Seat Coach in this game: Bowden! Coach Leaving: Andrews!

LAW BUCKEYE predicts FLORIDA by 14

Florida doesn't have a sizzling deep threat this year, making its offense about as fun to watch as a stripper in a turtleneck, but who needs big plays when you've got a defense that all but guarantees you'll win the battle of field position. Bobby Bowden has all but said the Seminoles can't compete. If he doesn't believe, why should I?

4. GEORGIA at No. 7 GEORGIA TECH, 8:00 p.m. EST (11/28), ABC

GRAHAMFILLER10 predicts GEORGIA TECH by 17

GT has that magical knack for winning close games. I love the triple option like a brother and I love the toughness Paul Johnson installed. Dead Coach Walking: Willie Martinez!

LAW BUCKEYE predicts GEORGIA TECH by 10

Not only has Paul Johnson's vaunted triple-option attack survived its second run through conference play, the offense has flourished as the Yellow Jackets have learned to execute. The uniqueness of the Tech attack is another headache for Mark Richt, who already has to worry about his team's problems turning the ball over, failing to force turnovers, and piling up penalty yards. Georgia looks confused and disoriented as they fall to their rivals in Atlanta for the first time in a decade.

5. NOTRE DAME at STANFORD, 8:00 p.m. EST (11/28), ABC

GRAHAMFILLER10 predicts STANFORD by 7

White Wonder Toby Gerhart is foaming at the mouth in anticipation of smacking heads with the Irish defenders. Something to know about Stanford - Not only can they smashmouth, they can play action and go down the field, as witnessed in the USC depantsing. I know it'll be fun for Jimmy Clausen to be back in the home state, but ND has failed to take advantage of endgame opportunities all year. Dead Coach Limping: Chuck Weis!

LAW BUCKEYE predicts STANFORD by 7

I know what you're thinking: who cares about this game? Charlie Weis is done. Stanford can't win the Pac 10. Neither team is ranked. I'd like to suggest this game is the week's toughest to pick. How will the Irish play for their interred leader? Will they come out strong, showing the flash in a pan offensive brilliance they displayed at times this season, taking advantage of a Cardinal squad that was rattled by California last week? Or will they sink softly into the earth, making Tuesday's meeting between Weis and (Athletic Director) Jack Swarbrick merely precatory? Will this be for the Irish what the 2007 Capital One Bowl was for Michigan? I think the Irish play hard, but their defense can't overcome the sound and fury of Stanford's rush attack. Stanford drops the other shoe.

It's Friday the 13th and it's gameday. The only way it would be better is if we had a full moon. Not many are giving us a chance tonight. It (to me at least) feels like the atmosphere before the Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma (not that it has a bearing on anything). I just hope he results are similar. A win for WVU tonight would make the BCS people happy, which really isn't a good thing. But I say, "Screw 'em all! It's Mountaineer Pride!!" It's a big weekend for Mountaineer sports. In addition to the football game tonight, Women's Soccer starts the NCAA tourney today and both basketball teams open up their regular seasons this weekend. This sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen...so, enjoy.

Burger Bacon Dogs

Ingredients:
1 pound of hamburger
1 pound of thin sliced bacon
8 hot dogs (the real deal, no cheap ones!)
4 slices of cheese(split the slices of cheese in half)
1 egg
16 toothpicks
Tin Foil Wrap

Combined hamburger, egg and your spices/seasonings to taste and form 8 hamburger patties.

Spread out your bacon with every two slices being about 2 " apart.

Slice each hot dog from end to end, NOT completely through, maybe half through the thickness of the dog and insert one half slice of the cheese into each dog.

Place the dog on one end of the hamburger patty and carefully roll the dog while wrapping it with the patty.

Place this carefully at the ends of your bacon, which should be spaced 2 " apart....(2 slices of bacon per burger-dog), carefully roll and wrap the bacon. Secure bacon to each burger-dog with two toothpicks. NOTE: Leave each toothpick exposed on one side or the other in order to remove them after cooking.

Wrap your burger-dogs with tin foil and place on grill over medium heat, but do not place directly over flame. Cook for half-hour and then CAREFULLY remove foil from burger-dogs (HOT JUICE-Be Careful!)

Place burger dogs back onto grill for browning.

Serve with any condiments by itself or on a large Hoagie Roll - Awesome!!!

Mountain West and their Road to the BCS: 11/6/09

Time to feature games of interest that will affect the possibility of the Mountain West getting into the BCS this year. These games will not include all the teams ahead of any MWC team, but will be games that the higher ranked team may lose and thus drop in the rankings All rankings listed are from the BCS.

TCU still controls their own destiny if they win out. As always absolute chaos is my goal in an effort to promote change.

All time eastern:

New Mexico @ 14 Utah (MTN, 4pm)

Only reason Utah is here is because they technically are still in the BCS race by winning out and a Boise loss. Utes are experimenting at the quarterback position with most likely Jordan Wynn getting the nod.

MWC rooting interest: The Utes of course, because if they can at least get into the top 14 to possibly force the BCS to take two non-BCS.

9 LSU @ 3 Alabama (CBS, 3:30pm)

This game will shape the SEC West to see who gets to go to the conference title game. Now, if my research is right the winner clinches the SEC West title. With only two teams per league able to get into the BCS the loser is essentially eliminated from the BCS and will be heading to the Cotton Bowl.

MWC rooting interest: LSU, because TCU should be able move ahead of Alabama --at least temporarily-- and move closer to the number two spot that even with an LSU win is still out of reach.

Connecticut @ 5 Cincinnati (ABC, 8pm)

Cincy wants revenge after last year beat down, and only conference loss en route to their first BCS apperance. Cincinatti is the obviously better team, but the quarterback situation is still undecided whether starter Tony Pike or backup Zach Collaros will start.

MWC rooting interest: Connecticut, this is a long shot with the way the Bearcats playing at home and are just really good. A Bearcat loss does essentiall the same as an LSU win over Alabama.

22 Navy @ Notre Dame (NBC, 2:30pm)

Notre Dame gets WR Michael Floyd back after breaking his collar bone earlier in the season. Navy gave Ohio State all they could handle on opening day, and will need to have a similar game. The Midshipmen need to control the time of possession and try to get pressure on QB Jimmy Clausen.

MWC rooting interest: Navy, but not likely. The Irish only need to get into the top 14 to be considered, but everyone knows if they are available they will get in.

Northwestern @ 4 Iowa (ESPN, Noon)

Northwestern is not all that good, but Iowa seems to struggle against all opponents and has yet to blow any team all year.

MWC rooting interest: Northwestern, because Iowa is due for a loss someday, and if Iowa some how sneaks into the title game they will get crushed. Who am I kidding they will get smoked in the Rose Bowl as well against Oregon.

16 Ohio State @ 11 Penn State (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30pm)

The Terrelle Pryor Nutcracker shirts are being recalled, but there is still reason to watch this game. The winner will move into the top 14 of the BCS, and Ohio State controls their destiny to the Rose Bowl if they win out. This game also is known as 'what quarterback is under-achieving the most.'

MWC rooting interest: Penn State, not for BCS standings but if the Buckeyes lose then ESPN's Gameday will most likely be headed to Fort Worth with the Utah vs. TCU game.

12 USC @ Arizona State (ABC, 8pm)

USC is trying to recover from their worse loss in the Pete Carrol era. Arizona State could be in for a beat down by the revenge factor by the Trojans.

MWC rooting interest: Arizona State, but really? No way Peter Carrol is losing three conference games, and USC is trying to stay in the picture for a BCS bowl game.

15 Houston @ Tulsa (CBS College Sports, 7:30pm)

Tulsa used to have a great offense, but it could re-emerge with the lackluster defense of Houston. An interesting fact is that if Houston QB Case Keenum throws for 400 yards his passing average goes down! Expect this to have a lot of points and go down to the end.

MWC rooting interest: Houston. They should be in the top 14 in the BCS standings and be an at-large choice. While they probably will not be choosen, but it narrows the BCS schools to be choosen and possibly for the BCS cartel to take two non-BCS teams in Boise or TCU/Utah and take away money from the Big Six leagues.

Week 10 BTBS Picks!

On we roll...

Last Week: We crept back over .500 last week, which is good I guess. Sometime last week, I started reaching a conclusion that Bill Simmons reinforced in his weekend NFL picks column. The fact is, the spreads are a whole lot tougher in late-October and November than in September and early-October. I really want to be doing better than 50%, and I think 55%-60% is still possible, for the rest of this year (until I can update my methods) I'll take anything over 50% as victory. And just looking at how tight a lot of my projections are compared to the spread, some good or bad breaks could make a pretty humongous difference this week.

(Meanwhile, knock on wood, but my overall struggles haven't translated to my ten-per-week FO picks, in which I've gone 14-6 over the last two weeks. Again, KNOCK ON WOOD. In fact, why did I even bring this up with my amazing jinx power?? I suck.)

The only reason they've seemed disappointing is that they were supposed to be the most recent G.O.A.T., and they're only really good instead.
