Congratulations to the following Ducks that have been selected in the 2009 NFL Draft. Big ups to Nick Reed especially who conquered the odds and went in the 7th round, despite not having that typical NFL body. Sometimes having that motor helps and it will be good to see him remain local. I was also very surprised to have 3 Ducks go in the Top 50 of the draft. That's awesome and hasn't happened before. All of these teams should be competing for playoff spots next year as well. Great job guys!

-- Patrick Chung to New England: 2nd Round, 34th overall

-- Jairus Byrd to Buffalo: 2nd Round, 42nd overall

-- Max Unger to Seattle: 2nd Round, 49th overall

-- Fenuki Tupou to Philadelphia: 5th Round, 159th overall

-- Ra'Shon Harris to Pittsburgh: 6th Round, 205th overall

-- Nick Reed to Seattle: 7th Round, 247th overall

Pros: Long arms, strong against the double team. Gets a sustained push and can drive the pocket back with his strength and effort. Shows grasp of technique to shed olinemen for the tackle.

Cons:Late bloomer who only had one full season as a starter. Can be dominated by technically superior olinemen, and either stood up or driven out of the play. Only marginal getting off the snap.

Styg's Broncos "fit": This high potential prospect rates out at two stars. Limited playing time, a biceps tear, and delayed development should send his stock to the latest parts of the draft. As a developmental prospect, he is a terrific fit and value for Denver in the sixth-seventh. He struggles with many aspects of the game, like learning to use his hands, not letting his height count against him or sticking with the play. But his ability to handle double teams is for real. He even shows flashes of being able to split double teams, making him even more versatile. The sixth round isn't too early to look at Harris as a practice squader with a bright future at NT.

Around MHR:

SBNation Says:

Highlights

Scouting Reports and Offsite Links:

A strong, well-built tackle with good power and base strength at the point of attack. Works his legs well through blocks and can control linemen on runs to either side of his body. Plays with a good motor and does a nice job extending his arms and delivering a strong punch on contact. Works very hard inside and takes pride against the double-team. Has the power to hold the point of attack. Will find his way as a rotational type defender. [see more...]

Harris only produced three tackles in his first two seasons in Eugene, but the light started to come on during his junior season. He then stepped up his game as a first-year starter in 2008, making 47 tackles, nine tackles for loss and sacking the opponents' quarterback three times. His ability to take up blockers made everyone on the line more effective. His potential as a interior presence could get him drafted. [see more...]

Ra'Shon Harris is an interesting player to look at for the combine. He had a very solid career at Oregon and definitely has the size to play in the NFL. I definitely think a team will give him a shot in the NFL, but I am not sure how he will do at the combine. I am not sure if he will stand out in any of the tests and the combine.

I feel he will have an average combine in the speed, agility and jumping tests. He will have good strength tests, but I am not sure if the bench press will distinguish him much from other defensive tackles. I think the combine will keep Ra'Shon's stock the same and may hurt his stock some. [see more...]
