Recap: Auburn vs. Kentucky

Sports Network | October 18, 2009

Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Randall Cobb scored the go-ahead touchdown with a four-yard run late in the fourth quarter to lead the Kentucky Wildcats to a 21-14 upset of the Alabama Crimson Tide in SEC action.

Cobb finished with 109 rushing yards on 12 carries for Kentucky (3-3, 1-3 SEC), which was led by Derrick Locke's 126 rushing yards.

Ben Tate rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries in the loss for Auburn (5-2, 2-2).

Auburn scored the only points of the first quarter, as Neiko Thorpe returned a blocked field goal 69 yards for a touchdown to give his team a 7-0 lead.

Kentucky tied the score at 7-7 with a four-yard touchdown run by Morgan Newton in the second quarter.

Auburn answered with just six seconds remaining in the first half, as Tate reached the end zone on a one-yard plunge.

Trailing 14-7 heading into the final quarter, Kentucky found a way to steal a win on the road. Will Fidler scored on a two-yard touchdown run to even the game at 14-14, and Cobb's four-yard scamper with 3:17 left proved to be the difference.

Both teams passed for fewer than 100 yards in the clash, as the Wildcats were 9-of-22 for 75 yards without starting quarterback Mike Hartline who is out indefinitely with an injury.
