With A.J. Green, Julio Jones and Torrey Smith in 2011 and Percy Harvin and Hakeem Nicks in 2009, odd-numbered years have been good for wide receiver prospects. The trend could continue in 2013.
There is plenty of intrigue at the wide receiver position for the 2013 NFL Draft. This year, four wide receivers were taken in the NFL Draft. Depending on which juniors come out, next year should be no different.
Like many offensive skill positions, the players from the junior class will help prove the quality of entire draft. Tennessee's Justin Hunter came into the season with top marks because of his size and athleticism. But he's had issues with drops. The hands of Southern California's Robert Woods aren't in question. Neither is his speed or ability to run precise routes. Woods' size (a listed 6-foot-1) may also not be an issue after fellow average-size wide outs Kendall Wright and A.J. Jenkins were taken in the first round this year.
Amongst the seniors, there is size with Cobi Hamilton of Arkansas and Terrance Williams of Baylor. If a team is looking for a playmaking slot receiver, though, West Virginia's Tavon Austin will be the top option.
