Texas Longhorns wide receiver Mike Davis announced Thursday that he will enter the 2013 NFL Draft. He had 57 receptions for 939 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior last season.
Texas Longhorns wide receiver Mike Davis will enter the 2013 NFL Draft, according to ESPN's Joe Schad. The decision comes as somewhat of a surprise. Davis made it clear that he had more than just his football career on his mind, however:
Mike Davis: "This is about my family and finances. It’s a good time to take it to the next level. I enjoyed my time playing for Texas."

You won't find Davis on SB Nation's list of the top wide receiver prospects for the 2013 draft, though he could move his way up draft boards in due time. He told Schad that scouts have told him that he could be a third round pick.
The 6'2, 193-pound wideout led the Longhorns with 939 yards receiving and seven touchdowns off 57 receptions last season. Davis' 16.5 yards per reception attests to his skills as a deep threat, though an extra year in college to refine his game would likely have helped his stock.
