2013 Senior Bowl: Mike Glennon steps up, and other notes from North practice

Practice at the 2013 Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., rolls on with more scouting reports from the last full practice before Saturday's game. Once again, special attention was paid to the quarterback battle between NC State's Mike Glennon, Syracuse's Ryan Nassib and Miami (OH)'s Zac Dysert.

SB Nation's B.J. Kissel was on the scene, and he confirmed what many have noted over the last two days: Glennon throws a really pretty deep ball.

Nassib wasn't quite as sharp as he was Tuesday. The quarterback was reportedly sailing passes during 7-on-7 drills. Dysert also sailed passes, according to Optimum Scouting's Eric Galko, who also saw Nassib struggling with the deep ball and Glennon missing on short routes.

Galko still placed Glennon among his standout players for the day, however, and Mike Loyko of NEPatriotsDraft ranked him above the other two quarterbacks after the day's practice.

More Notes:

-- Another day, another set of mixed reviews for Michigan's Denard Robinson. The good news is that he shed his non-contact jersey Wednesday, and apparently looked more comfortable at wide receiver. The dropped passes were still present, but BTN's Rick Pizzo points out that Robinson did a better job catching the ball with his hands rather than his body. Eric Galko still says Robinson is a major work in progress, however. Apparently there is still a long way to go.

-- Oregon State's Markus Wheaton remains perhaps the best wide receiver on the North squad. SB Nation's B.J. Kissel raved about Wheaton's adjustment to the ball on one post route in particular That said, Marquise Goodwin also earned rave reviews, with some saying that his draft stock has already received a major boost from his practice performance.

-- Back to the Big Ten, Wisconsin left tackle Ricky Wagner remains a difficult prospect for scouts to pin down. Galko agreed that Wagner was very good when he was able to engage defenders, but had trouble at time gaining proper leverage.
