2013 NFL Draft running back rankings

Butch Dill

It's difficult to bet against former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore, despite serious knee injuries. When he was healthy, Lattimore projected as a possible top 10 pick because of his power, vision and quickness. Lattimore was never a speed runner, so if he can come back, he can be a lead runner for an NFL team.

It's impossible to ignore his injury history, and because of it he's not our top running back. That goes to Eddie Lacy of Alabama. He's faster than most think, impressively works a spin move to generate extra yards and has power. He's just ahead of Giovani Bernard of North Carolina.

The running back class this year is unimpressive, but there is some solid depth. Johnathan Franklin of UCLA and Joseph Randle of Oklahoma State could develop into a lead running backs. Andre Ellington is a nice second option with some burst. The real wild card is Christine Michael of Texas A&M. He's the most physically gifted running back in the class, but he's struggled through injuries and has some character issues.
