Charles Tillman remains one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, even at age 32 - but the Chicago Bears are in need of a bit of clarity at their other starting cornerback spot, where Tim Jennings has been serviceable, but could be upgraded on. Our friends at Windy City Gridiron think the Bears could address that need early in the 2013 NFL Draft.
Team | Player | Position | Height | Weight | Class |
20. Chicago Bears | Logan Ryan, Rutgers | CB | 5'11" | 190 | JR |
Dan Kadar: Ryan may not have imposing size, but he's a tough cornerback. His specialty is man coverage because he can get physical as the receiver works down the field. He often toes the line of getting called for a penalty, but does a good job of disrupting the timing on a route. For a cornerback, he's an exceptional tackler – both in the pass and run game. Ryan is much better than most corners at playing more than just the receiver he's covering. He can quickly disengage from the man he's covering to get after the running back. Ryan may fall this far in the draft because he doesn't have optimum top-end speed and taller receivers can high-point the ball against him. Because Ryan is often looking into the backfield for run support, he can get beat on play action at times. |
