In two years under head coach Jim Harbaugh, the San Francisco 49ers have emerged not only as one of the best teams in the NFL, but also as one of its most physical. In the 2013 SB Nation NFL writers mock draft, the 49ers have adhered to that principle, and do so again late in the second round.

David Fucillo: "The San Francisco 49ers will draft a safety in this draft, but with the depth at the position, it is tough to tell when exactly that will happen. Matthew Fairburn mocked out Swearinger to the 49ers in the first round, but the scuttlebutt would seem to indicate he could slide down to the end of the second round. If that happens and the 49ers had not made a move for another safety, I see them pouncing on a guy they could develop into a long-term answer."
Here's our own Dan Kadar to break down the pick:
Here at Mocking the Draft, or SB Nation NFL Draft (whichever), we have quite strong feelings for Swearinger. He’s an instinctual safety with the athleticism to gamble and make up on the play. Swearinger’s ability to read the quarterback is matched in this year’s safety class only by Kenny Vaccaro. He doesn’t bite on play fakes and closes in a hurry. If the 49ers could get him in the first round, it’s a good choice. To get him in the second could be the considered the steal of this mock.
