With the final pick of the 2013 SB Nation NFL writers' mock draft, the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Beatdown have elected to roll with a potential left tackle of the future. Take it away, Mr. Raffel...
|62. Baltimore Ravens||Menelik Watson, Florida State||OT||6'5"||310||JR|
Bruce Raffel: "The Ravens are always in the mode of best player available and Watson fits that bill perfectly. NFL Draft Scout considers him the 26th best player in the entire draft, the fifth best offensive tackle, and perhaps the most athletic one of all. Ironically, he is compared to the Ravens' Michael Oher. While Menelik is a raw talent, his size (6'5", 310) and athleticism is undeniable and he could end up mentoring under Michael Oher and perhaps even Bryant McKinnie and then taking over as the team's left tackle for years to come."
Here's our own Dan Kadar to break down the pick:
As far as developmental offensive tackles go, Watson is a good one. He’s a stellar athlete and just tapping into his potential. But at this point, he’s more of a developmental talent than a polished player. He’s still learning football and typically gets by on his agility and quickness. It may take Watson a year alone just to get up to speed to play right tackle in the NFL. Projecting him out to the left side is a thought because of his natural ability. But that wouldn’t be for quite a few years.
That's a wrap, folks! Thanks for following this year's mock draft; enjoy the 2013 NFL Draft next week, and we'll see you in a year for the next iteration of the SB Nation NFL writers mock draft.
