2014 NFL Draft wide receiver rankings

Jeff Gross

Marqise Lee of USC and Sammy Watkins of Clemson are the top. After them there is variety and plenty of players who could rise and fall this season.

Putting together these rankings, the wide receiver group was the most difficult. That's partly due to the amount of players to sift through. We currently have 39 wide receivers rated, even though only 28 were picked in this year's draft.

There is also a lot of calamity at the position after the top players. Even among the top two – Marqise Lee of Southern California and Sammy Watkins of Clemson – are debatable. Some prefer Lee's pure pass catching ability. Others like Watkins' playmaking. Mike Evans of Texas A&M could overtake them both because he has the type of size and high-point ability that will make him attractive to NFL teams. The same could be said for Brandon Coleman of Rutgers rising to the top.

Inside the top 10, there is one clear outlier. Among a bunch of six-foot and taller receivers there is Jalen Saunders of Oklahoma. If there is going to be a Tavon Austin type of player in the draft next year, it's Saunders.

There is going to be fluidity with the wide receiver rankings this season. While no one may overtake the top three, any number of players can rise or fall. Who do you think we should have higher or lower?
