An incident between two fans occurred after the NFC Championship outside the Georgia Dome on Sunday evening. Here's the latest on the altercation.
The Falcons suffered a heartbreaking 28-14 loss to the 49ers on Sunday in the NFC Championship, with plenty of emotion pouring from both sides throughout the afternoon. Unfortunately, that emotion carried over to the parking lot after the game in front of the Georgia Dome.
According to reports, a Falcons fan was stabbed during an altercation with a 49ers fan after the game on Sunday. Channel 2 Action News initially broke the story, sending out a few tweets about the incident.
As the story tells, the Falcons fan punched the Niners fan first, which led to the stabbing. The Falcons fan was taken to a local hospital immediately afterwards, but no report on his condition has been released at this time.
Football is an emotional sport. It's easy to get riled up, especially in the heat of the playoffs. There's no reason something like this should transpire though. Fans of opposing teams may not get along, but you never want the situation to escalate this badly.
