NFL Divisional Playoff odds and betting trends

Denver has been dominant at home and as a favorite, while the Seahawks and Packers have been money-making machines as underdogs. How do bettors see the NFL divisional playoff odds shaking out this week?

Two big favorites and two small favorites grace the NFL Divisional Playoff odds menu this weekend, but two of the big underdogs boast big trends that hint at upsets.

Denver, still the Super Bowl favorite at most sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com, has won 12 straight games as a favorite and 11 in a row overall. But the Broncos face a 9.5-point spread against a Baltimore Ravens team that has dominated them against the spread (7-2 ATS) over the years.

However, the Ravens are winless in 18 seasons (0-16 SU) as an underdog of this size. [ Ravens Broncos Matchup report ]

New England is also approaching double-digit favorite status at home to Houston, but the Texans own a handful of interesting trends that point to covering this 9.5-point spread.

Houston was demolished by the Patriots in December, but they are 5-0 ATS in their past five January games and are 3-0 ATS lifetime in the playoffs. [ Patriots Texans Matchup Report ]

Half of the small chalk is located in San Francisco, where the 49ers are 3-point favorites against Green Bay. But the Packers have absolutely dominated the 49ers over the years and have been vicious underdogs (12-3-1 ATS in their past 16 games in this role). [ Packers 49ers Matchup report ]

The other half of the small chalk is in Atlanta, where the top-seeded Falcons host the dangerous Seattle Seahawks. True the Falcons have won seven straight against NFC West foes, but they have been playoff chokers and face a Seahawks team that has been hot on the road and nasty as an underdog (15-3-1 ATS past 19 games).
