Super Bowl pregame show 2013: Newtown students, Matchbox Twenty, Alicia Keys among pregame lineup

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Among a myriad of music and events to kickoff Super Bowl XLVII, a group of students from Connecticut will be on the field with their families before the game.

Super Bowl XLVII is getting closer, slated to kick off actual game coverage at 6:30 p.m. EST on February 3rd, but there will be plenty of festivities and coverage leading up to the moment when the Ravens and 49ers actually start to play to be the 47th Super Bowl champion. Here is a brief rundown of those events:

- Coverage will begin on CBS at 11 a.m. EST. The first three hours of coverage will have features on New Orleans, the host city of Super Bowl XLVII, as well as a review of the NFL regular season and playoffs, plus a look at Phil Simms All-Iron Team.

- "Super Bowl Today" on CBS will then air at 2 p.m. EST, which is a special version of the regular "The NFL Today" that normally airs on CBS for game days. Super Bowl Today will then run until 6:25 p.m. EST, when the actual game coverage begins.

- Matchbox Twenty and OneRepublic will perform during the Super Bowl 2013 pregame show and NFL Tailgate Party on CBS.

- Alicia Keys will be performing the National Anthem, while Beyonce is slated to headline the halftime show. While normal NFL halftimes usually last for 12 minutes, the Super Bowl halftime is scheduled to run for about 30 minutes and will be streamed live online for the first time in history.

- A group of 26 students from Sandy Hook Elementary School will sing America the Beautiful before the game, per NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. The students and their families will be flown to New Orleans this week for hopefully a little bit of comfort and relief at one of the countries biggest events.
