Week 5 was upset week in the NFL and that will be reflected in this week's NFL power rankings.
The Saints and Cowboys were both heavy favorites against the Cardinals and Titans but both walked away with losses. The Packers couldn't get it done against the Redskins, and the Chargers lost to the Raiders.
In other words, it was another week in the NFL.
We're starting to see the power teams coming forward. The Jets and Ravens have really put themselves above everyone else to this point. The Steelers are getting Ben Roethlisberger back, so they'll probably be joining that group soon.
On the other side you've got the Bills, Panthers and 49ers, the NFL's winless teams. The Bills don't have a quarterback, the Panthers have a very young quarterback and the 49ers aren't quite sure what they have (after six years of Alex Smith).
Here's your weekly edition of NFL power rankings.
32. Buffalo Bills (0-5)
Last week's rank: 32
Last game: Jaguars (lost)
SB Nation: Buffalo Rumblings
Buffalo, Buffalo, Buffalo. Will they win a game all season? That's a serious question. I'm not sure that they can. The Lions and Browns are a possibility. Maybe the Vikings in Week 13 if they continue to implode and Old Man Favre leaves the team.
31. Carolina Panthers (0-4)
Last week's rank: 31
Last game: Bears (lost)
SB Nation: Cat Scratch Reader
The best news for Carolina? They play the 49ers in two weeks. The battle of winless teams will take place in Carolina.
30. San Francisco 49ers (0-5)
Last week's rank: 28
Last game: Eagles (lost)
SB Nation: Niners Nation
The meltdown in San Francisco is officially on. The 49ers could have hoped for a miracle comeback in the not-very-good NFC West if they had gone 1-4. But 0-5? It's over.
29. Cleveland Browns (1-4)
Last week's rank: 27
Last game: Falcons (lost)
SB Nation: Dawgs By Nature
The Browns are down to Colt McCoy and a quarterback they just signed (Brett Ratliff). Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace have ankle sprains. This could be bad news against the Steelers next week.
28. St. Louis Rams (2-3)
Last week's rank: 21
Last game: Lions (lost)
SB Nation: Turf Show Times
And here I thought this Rams team was for real. Instead they're blown out 44-6 to the Lions. Luckily for the Rams, they're in the NFC West and just a game out of first place.
27. Oakland Raiders (2-3)
Last week's rank: 30
Last game: Chargers (won)
SB Nation: Silver And Black Pride
Are you kidding me, Oakland? They took San Diego to the wire and walked out with a victory. The Raiders still make way too many mistakes but there are some nice building blocks on this team.
26. Detroit Lions (1-4)
Last week's rank: 29
Last game: Rams (won)
SB Nation: Pride Of Detroit
Detroit finally gets their W and it's well deserved. They've been playing very good teams pretty close so it was nice to see them blow out the Rams.
25. Denver Broncos (2-3)
Last week's rank: 23
Last game: Ravens (lost)
SB Nation: Mile High Report
Tough break for the Broncos, who were stomped by the Ravens. Kyle Orton's throwing for near record-breaking numbers but the Broncos aren't winning. May be time to get that running game rolling.
24. Seattle Seahawks (2-2)
Last week's rank: 24
Last game: Bye
SB Nation: Field Gulls
The Seahawks are doing what they need to do so far at .500, which might win the NFC West.
23. Dallas Cowboys (1-3)
Last week's rank: 13
Last game: Titans (lost)
SB Nation: Blogging The Boys
It's officially time to start worrying in Dallas. After the 1-2 start, I kept them ranked in the top half of the league because i knew they were better than that. Well, maybe I was wrong. Apparently they're not better than that.
22. Minnesota Vikings (1-3)
Last week's rank: 12
Last game: Jets (lost)
SB Nation: Daily Norseman
The Vikings have to play four complete quarters to beat the Jets. They came pretty close playing just two-and-a-half against the Jets on Monday night.
21. Cincinnati Bengals (2-3)
Last week's rank: 19
Last game: Bucs (lost)
SB Nation: Cincy Jungle
Let's see....the Bengals offense is having problems, Carson Palmer doesn't look like Carson Palmer and Terrell Owens says the coaching staff hasn't taken his suggestions. Could be a problem in Cincy.
20. Miami Dolphins (2-2)
Last week's rank: 20
Last game: Bye
SB Nation: The Phinsider
The Dolphins have lost two in a row and have games coming up at Green Bay and against Pittsburgh. This could be very easily turn into 2-4 in a tough AFC East. They're hoping Aaron Rodgers is out on Sunday with a concussion.
19. San Diego Chargers (2-3)
Last week's rank: 15
Last game: Raiders (lost)
SB Nation: Bolts From The Blue
So the Chargers destroy the Cardinals by 31 points and then lose to Oakland? Sorry but the Black Hole isn't that intimidating. The Chargers early-season troubles continue.
18. Arizona Cardinals (3-2)
Last week's rank: 25
Last game: Saints (won)
SB Nation: Revenge Of The Birds
Raise your hand if you can figure out the Cardinals. 41-10 drubbing against San Diego last week only to come back and beat the world champion Saints? Nice first NFL victory, Max Hall.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-2)
Last week's rank: 22
Last game: Bills (won)
SB Nation: Big Cat Country
Big win over the Colts last week and then beating a team that you should last Sunday. The Jaguars don't scare me but they've put together a couple of impressive victories this season.
16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1)
Last week's rank: 26
Last game: Bengals (won)
SB Nation: Bucs Nation
Wow, the Bucs are 3-1 after a comeback victory. They're teetering right on the 'Are they for real?' line.
15. Kansas City Chiefs (3-1)
Last week's rank: 10
Last game: Colts (lost)
SB Nation: Arrowhead Pride
How far should the Chiefs drop after taking the Colts to the wire? Peyton Manning said that Chiefs defense was pretty good. I think that defense can carry them to a few more wins this season.
14. Washington Redskins (3-2)
Last week's rank: 17
Last game: Packers (won)
SB Nation: Hogs Haven
This is a tough team to figure out. They lose to the Texans and Rams but beat the Cowboys, Eagles and Packers. Next week the test doesn't get any smaller against Indianapolis.
13. Philadelphia Eagles (3-2)
Last week's rank: 14
Last game: 49ers (won)
SB Nation: Bleeding Green Nation
The Eagles make it through one week of the Kevin Kolb era. 253 yards and a touchdown isn't too bad from Kolb.
12. New York Giants (3-2)
Last week's rank: 16
Last game: Texans (won)
SB Nation: Big Blue View
Remember when New York was about to meltdown because the Giants couldn't win? Yeah that was a long time ago. They're not in a three-way tie for first in the NFC East.
11. Tennessee Titans (3-2)
Last week's rank: 18
Last game: Cowboys (won)
SB Nation: Music City Miracles
Interesting quarterback performance on Sunday in the Cowboys victory. 12-of-25 for 173 yards and a pair of scores for Vince Young. Not a bad day when you have a solid rushing attack to support you.
10. Chicago Bears (4-1)
Last week's rank: 11
Last game: Panthers (won)
SB Nation: Windy City Gridiron
Jay Cutler better come back. Quick. Todd Collins' numbers; 6-of-16, 32 yards and four picks.
9. Houston Texans (3-2)
Last week's rank: 7
Last game: Giants (lost)
SB Nation: Battle Red Blog
I like the Texans but when that offense is off, it's really off. Just 10 points against the Giants this week. They'll bounce back in a tough game against the Chiefs next week.
8. Green Bay Packers (3-2)
Last week's rank: 4
Last game: Redskins (lost)
SB Nation: Acme Packing Company
The Packers may have some trouble next week with Aaron Rodgers out with a concussion. If he can't go, it'd be former 7th round pick Matt Flynn. The Packers better hope he's healthy.
7. New Orleans Saints (3-2)
Last week's rank: 2
Last game: Cardinals (lost)
SB Nation: Canal Street Chronicles
Ouch. The Cardinals? Max Hall? The Saints are better than that.
6. Atlanta Falcons (4-1)
Last week's rank: 9
Last game: Browns (won)
SB Nation: The Falcoholic
I'm starting to wonder if this is the best team in the NFC. They're pretty quietly putting together a good season. With a strong running game and a good quarterback, you're tough to beat.
5. Indianapolis Colts (3-2)
Last week's rank: 8
Last game: Chiefs (won)
SB Nation: Stampede Blue
The Colts had trouble with the Chiefs last week but got it done in the end. The Colts may not be winning 12 games for the first time since 2002, though. They'll need to go on a serious run pretty soon.
4. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1)
Last week's rank: 6
Last game: Bye
SB Nation: Behind The Steel Curtain
Now think about this: The Steelers are now better with Ben Roethlisberger at quarterback. The 3-1 start was done with backup quarterbacks.
3. New England Patriots (3-1)
Last week's rank: 1
Last game: Bye
SB Nation: Pats Pulpit
The Patriots needed this bye week. Here's their next three: Baltimore, at San Diego and Minnesota.
2. Baltimore Ravens (4-1)
Last week's rank: 5
Last game: Broncos (won)
SB Nation: Baltimore Beatdown
Another week, another solid overall performance from the Ravens. They might be the most complete team in the NFL.
1. New York Jets (4-1)
Last week's rank: 3
Last game: Vikings (won)
SB Nation: Gang Green Nation
The Jets dominated the Vikings until the second half on Monday night. With a healthy Darrelle Revis on one side and Antonio Cromartie on the other side, Rex Ryan's blitzing ability is lethal.
