Vincent Jackson Will Report To Chargers By Oct. 31, According To Source

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Vincent Jackson will report to the San Diego Chargers by Oct. 31 at the recommendation of the NFLPA.

Jackson’s reporting deadline is earlier because the Chargers elected to place him on roster exempt, meaning Jackson must sit out three unpaid games before he is eligible to receive the necessary six paid games to earn his sixth accrued season.

According to a by-law in the players’ contract, if a player doesn’t report by Nov. 10, he forfeits the right to be paid at all that season. Due to Jackson’s unique situation, he needs to report sooner in order to make sure he meets the required dates.

The NFLPA is also recommending to Logan Mankins that he report to the Patriots by Nov. 10.

Bolts From The Blue will have updates and opinion on Jackson’s return.
