After the Vikings rode their blue-chip running back to an early lead, the Patriots answered with a rushing touchdown from one of their seemingly endless number of diamonds in the rough.
Danny Woodhead took a direct snap in for a touchdown from three yards out, and Stephen Gostkowski hit the extra point to knot the game at 7-7.
The Woodhead touchdown finished the best drive for New England on the day, an eight-play, 75-yard jaunt that relied on the pass to move the ball and the run to punch it in.
Fortunately for Minnesota, any response to the Patriots' score can utilize Percy Harvin's talents. The versatile receiver has returned to the field and appears to have no ill effects from an early ankle injury. One does wonder, though, if the presence of Harvin as a shiny toy on offense might distract the Vikings from the very effective, Adrian Peterson-heavy gameplan of the first quarter.
