Chad Pennington Named Miami Dolphins Starting QB Over Chad Henne

The Miami Dolphins have announced a quarterback change: Out is Chad Henne and in is Chad Pennington. Head coach Tony Sparano announced the move on Wednesday amid rumors that Henne could be headed for the bench. Sparano also says this isn't a one-week change -- Pennington is the starter from here on out.

Henne is coming off of a disappointing stretch in which he threw just one touchdown and five interceptions in three games -- two Miami losses. Sparano tells reporters that this is "not an indictment" on Henne and that it's just the best move for the team right now.

"At this particular time, my decision is I think Chad Pennington's strength might be little more suited to this team."

The Dolphins are hoping the oft-injured Pennington can cause the same spark he did in 2008 when he lead Miami to the playoffs with an 11-5 record. Pennington is known as a very accurate passer, although not a deep field threat. He has a long injury history including a season-ending shoulder injury early in 2009.

The Dolphins are currently 4-4 in third place of the AFC East. The second half of their schedule is somewhat friendly including games against Chicago, Oakland, Cleveland and Detroit.
