Vikings Owner Zygi Wilf Reportedly Not Happy With Randy Moss Release

News broke early on Monday afternoon that Vikings head coach Brad Childress had informed the team the Vikings had waived WR Randy Moss. The reaction of course was total confusion. But hours later the move had yet to be made official with the league causing some to wonder if Childress acted on his own with this move. It's normal for head coaches to consult with the owner on significant roster moves such as this one.

Apparently Vikings owner Zygi Wilf wasn't happy with the move which could be part of the reason for the delayed announcement on the Vikings (they released a statement Monday night).

It apparently didn't rise to a fireable offense, considering it was Childress who released a statement on behalf of the team Monday night. But it's hard to imagine Childress sitting in high standing with ownership after this episode.

From the various accounts we've heard it sounds like Moss was melting down in Minnesota. His post-game speech after the Vikings loss to the Patriots included a couple of criticisms of Childress. Perhaps the Vikings head coach wanted to get Moss out of there before he cost him his job. The ironic part is that now it appears Childress may not be around for much longer anyway.
