New Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is now 2-0, leading America’s Team to wins over the New York Giants and Detroit Lions. Detroit led 12-7 early in the second half after a penalty by Cowboys OL Leonard Davis in the end zone gave the Lions two points plus possession.
But four Dallas touchdowns down the stretch, including two passes from QB Jon Kitna to WR Miles Austin and a 29-yard (!) Kitna touchdown run, put this thing away. I, for one, am glad the Lions didn’t have to lose yet another close and late heartbreaker.
Lions QB Shaun Hill is your box score star, throwing for 289 yards and two touchdowns. But Austin is today’s most efficient player, with his two scores coming on his only two catches — of three and four yards.
The 2-8 Lions welcome the New England Patriots next. The 3-7 Cowboys get the New Orleans Saints in a matchup of two 2009 playoff teams that will certainly not meet in this year’s playoffs.
