Ellis Hobbs' Neck Injury Will Reportedly End His 2010 Season

The neck injury suffered by Philadelphia Eagles CB Ellis Hobbs on a helmet-to-helmet hit scared some folks as he laid motionless on the ground early in the third quarter of the 27-17 victory over the New York Giants. Though there are signs Hobbs will be OK -- he has full movement -- the Eagles will reportedly end his season.

Derrick Gunn of CSN Philly reports that Hobbs will be out for the remainders of the season because of the injury. Presumably the Eagles will soon place him on injured reserve. Hobbs didn't speak to the media following the game except for three words: "I'll be back."That may be the case, but it apparently won't be this year. After the game Andy Reid spoke and it sounded as if Hobbs would be OK.

"He was upset because he wanted to get up and go," Reid said after the game. "Sometimes that happens in those situations. I told him to stay down there and trust the guys that were working with him. I said, ‘Let’s just make sure things are OK, and let’s not do anything stupid here.’ "

X-rays following the game were negative so we're hoping he's going to be OK in the long-term.
