Eagles Vs. Cowboys: Desean Jackson's Huge Game Lift Philly To Sunday Night Win, 30-27

It was the Desean Jackson show for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football. The game-breaking wide receiver was all over the field, once again showing just how explosive he can be while torching the Dallas Cowboys. Jackson’s 210 yards and a touchdown, including a 91-yard touchdown catch and run, helped the Eagles drop the Cowboys, 30-27.

How ridiculous was Jackson’s performance? The 91-yard touchdown was the longest from scrimmage and he did it just moments after rolling his ankle. His 210 receiving yards was done on only four catches, a 52.5 yard per catch average. Finally, Michael Vick completed 16 passes for 270 yards. Take out Jackson’s production (four catches, 210 yards) and Vick threw for an average of 4.28 yards per completion. With Jackson, Vick’s average jumps to 16.875 yards per completion. Game-breaking, indeed.

Outside of Jackson’s monster performance, the game was a great one. Philadelphia took a 14-10 lead into halftime, only to see the Cowboys score the first 10 points out of halftime to take the lead. Two David Akers field goals tied it before Jackson broke the game open with his 91-yard touchdown. Another Akers field goal, his third of the night, made it a two score game and proved to be the difference. Jon Kitna and Jason Witten hooked-up for a 22-yard touchdown with time winding down, but the Eagles, on the back of LeSean McCoy, were able to run the clock out.

Kitna threw for 242 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss. Jason Witten provided instant offense, catching seven passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Felix Jones added 41 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Vick and Jackson put on a show, but McCoy’s game is likely to be lost in the shuffle. The Eagles’ running back rushed for 149 yards on 16 carries, a 9.3 yards per carry average. The duo of McCoy and Jackson combined to provide the bulk of the Philadelphia offense and showed the ability to break a big play at any moment against the Cowboys.

The Eagles moved to 9-4 on the year with the win. Dallas fell to 4-9 in what’s been an incredibly disappointing season for owner Jerry Jones. Philadelphia travels to the Meadowlands to battle the Giants next Sunday while Dallas hosts the Washington Redskins.
