NFL Week 15, Giants Vs. Eagles: Defense Reigns Supreme As Giants Lead 7-0 After First Quarter

Stay connected with SB Nation

A very defensive first quarter ended with the New York Giants leading the Philadelphia Eagles 7-0.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning connected with wide receiver Mario Manningham (the fan favorite Manning-to-Manningham connection) on a 35-yard touchdown pass to put the Giants up 7-0 in the first quarter. Manningham beat Eagles cornerback Dimitri Patterson and slipped behind the rest of the defense to catch a lightly floated pass from Manning. Later in the quarter Manning had a pass deflected and picked off by Eagles strong safety Quentin Mikell, which lead to David Akers kicking a 34-yard field goal to make the game 7-3.

Michael Vick has been stifled by the Giants defense, leading him to be only 2-for-6 for 12 yards and an interception. LeSean McCoy, who had a huge week last week versus the Dallas Cowboys, has three rushes for 24 yards.

The Giants lead the Eagles 7-3 heading into the second quarter.
