2011 East-West Shrine Game Final Score: East Dominates, 25-8

The 2011 East-West Shrine Game turned into a showcase for one team. It wasn't the West.

The East team forced three fumbles and scored 19 points in the first half, then cruised to a 25-8 victory. Syracuse running back Delone Carter, who ran for a touchdown, was named the game's offensive MVP.

Richmond defensive end Martin Parker took defensive MVP honors after recording two sacks and forcing a fumble.

Other big names had varied results. Virginia Tech's Tyrod Taylor was adequate at quarterback for the East, completing four of five passes for 59 yards, and North Carolina defensive tackle Marvin Austin pounced on a late fumble to score a defensive touchdown for the East.

But two of the other big-name quarterbacks struggled: both Wisconsin's Scott Tolzien and Texas A&M's Jerrod Johnson fumbled balls that turned into scoring plays for the other defense. And Auburn's Wes Byrum, who hit a field goal as time expired to give the Tigers their first BCS National Championship, made just one of three field goals in the game.

Few West players stood out on a day when the West managed just four first downs. Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle threw for the West's only touchdown, but completed just six of 12 throws.

2011 East-West Shrine Game: Tyrod Taylor Among Prospects Looking To Boost 2011 NFL Draft Stock

The 2011 East-West Shrine Game is just one of many all-star games for college football players trying to turn one last bit of live competition into a selection in the 2011 NFL Draft and a lucrative payday. Who should fans be watching in the game, broadcast on NFL Network at 4 p.m. Eastern?

Tyrod Taylor, Virginia Tech: The Hokies' career leader in wins faces questions about his size and passing ability, and must convince NFL personnel experts that he's not just this year's Pat White. He has superb agility and speed for a quarterback, which could translate to an NFL career at wide receiver.

Marvin Austin, North Carolina: One of the many talented players that could have made North Carolina's defense a juggernaut in 2010, Austin was kicked off the Tar Heels for the season after being involved in an NCAA investigation. He needs to remind scouts of the quickness and ferocity that made him a first-round prospect entering the 2010 season, and demonstrate that his conditioning has not suffered despite not playing a college game last year.

Terrence Toliver, LSU: Wide receiver with copious physical tools will try to shed doubts about his consistency.

Jerrod Johnson, Texas A&M: Aggies quarterback was benched midway through his senior season, but could flash the talent that made him a stellar player as an underclassman and might entice a team to take a flyer on him.

Karl Klug, Iowa: One of Iowa's many strong front four options, Klug could distinguish himself with an excellent performance in the Shrine Game.

East-West Shrine Game: 2011 NFL Draft Preparation Continues

Preparations for the 2011 NFL draft started during the 2010 college football season and that process continues on Saturday with the 2011 East-West Shrine game. One of the longest-running postseason college football all-star games that began in 1925. The game benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children which specializes in treating orthopaedic conditions, spinal cord injuries, burns, and cleft lip and palate, for children up to age 18, regardless of their ability to pay.

The two coaches this year are Dan Reeves and Wade Phillips, who hired on with the Houston Texans this year. Last year, the two head coaches were Romeo Crennel and Marty Schottenheimer.

The game will take place on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (ET) at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. You can view the rosters of the two teams here.

Representatives from all 32 NFL teams will be there on Saturday to take in the game. After the East-West game, the next step in the NFL draft process is the Senior Bowl next week.
