The 2011 Super Bowl between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers will be played at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Jerry World, as it's called, has a retractable roof on the top of it -- no, not like the one in Minnesota -- and it will be closed for the Super Bowl, the NFL announced.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said (via Dallas Morning News) the decision to leave the roof closed was a decision made well in advance of the 2011 Super Bowl so that they could focus on other logistics.
You can't predict the weather far enough in advance of the time a decision like this has to be made so closing it makes the most sense. The weather in Dallas for the game could be rainy so the closed roof is actually sounding like a good idea.
So it doesn't look like we'll get to test the NFL's 2015 Super Bowl plan of an outdoor game.
