Read More: Nick Barnett (LB - BUF), Jermichael Finley (TE - GBP), Green Bay Packers
Some Green Bay Packers players on injured reserve were understandably miffed earlier in the week at the news that they wouldn’t be flown out to Texas in time to appear in the official Super Bowl XLV team photo. LB Nick Barnett and TE Jermichael Finley complained on Twitter about the exclusion, but settled down shortly after.
The team has now scheduled the photo so that all 15 IR players can participate, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Rob Dremovsky. Injured players will fly in on Thursday, and the photo will now take place on Friday.
The issue was a logistical one. The Packers said that they simply didn’t have the resources to keep up with 15 injured players that far in advance of the game, but it looks like they’ve figured it out.
To the average sports fan this all might sound like a couple of spoiled millionaires whining about a picture, but a team photo is one of the more personalized mementos a player gets to enjoy from a once-in-a-lifetime Super Bowl trip. It would’ve been ideal for the matter to be addressed internally, but it’s nice to see it all worked out.
