Mario Williams Injury: Texans LB Out For Entire 2011 Season, According To Report

The Houston Texans are shutting down Mario Williams for the season, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports. It was reported on Monday morning that Williams suffered a torn pectoral muscle and his 2011 season was in jeopardy. It appears his season will end.

Williams suffered the injury sacking Jason Campbell in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. He left the game and never returned.

Williams' loss is a significant one for Houston, who has been dealing with injuries to star players like Arian Foster and Andre Johnson this season. He was the team's leading pass rusher with five sacks and looked solid in his transition to outside linebacker from defensive end.

McClain reports Williams will have surgery this week.

As SB Nation's Battle Red Blog points out, the training wheels will come off Brooks Reed now that Williams is done for the year.
