Eagles Vs. Redskins: John Beck Replaces Rex Grossman After Four Interceptions

Stay connected with SB Nation

Rex Grossman threw his fourth interception of the game, this one picked off by Eagles defensive end Kenyon Coleman. Four interceptions will mark the end of the day for Grossman, and the beginning of the John Beck era in Washington. Here’s a video of Grossman’s pick.

Beck replaced Grossman to start the fourth quarter. Grossman finished his day with 143 yards on nine completions in 22 attempts to go with his four picks.

Many wondered if the Redskins wold start Beck to begin their season after Beck performed well in preseason play. Head coach Mike Shanahan opted to go with the veteran, and it looked like the right move after two wins to start the season, including an opening week defeat of the New York Giants. Prior to their week five bye, Grossman threw two picks against the lowly St. Louis Rams, which almost allowed them to come back in that game if not for their own incompetence.
