Atlanta shut down Cam Newton and rode Michael Turner for a much-needed win in Week 6.
The Atlanta Falcons needed a win in Week 6. Luckily, the Carolina Panthers are a much easier foe than the Green Bay Packers. Michael Turner rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns as the Falcons took down Carolina, 31-17.
Cam Newton struggled through the air against Atlanta one week after Aaron Rodgers aerated the Falcons secondary. Newton threw three interceptions and had just 237 yards on 21 of 35 passing, but also ran for 53 yards and a touchdown. Jonathan Stewart had 48 yards and a rushing touchdown of his own.
Matt Ryan was better at quarterback for Atlanta, but he didn't really need to be: his 14 completions on 22 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown paled in comparison to the Falcons' 166 rushing yards and 13 first downs via the run.
With the win, the Falcons move to 3-3 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 1-5 with the loss.
