Christian Ponder replaced Donovan McNabb in Sunday's game but the Vikings aren't saying yet who will be the starter from here on out.
There was a surprise in the Minnesota Vikings Sunday Night Football loss to the Chicago Bears -- the arrival of Christian Ponder. The 12th overall pick hadn't seen any action this season until Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier made the decision to replace Donovan McNabb with the rookie on Sunday night.
Now the question becomes who will be the starting quarterback from here on out. Frazier indicated that he'll likely make that announcement on Wednesday.
"We're going to discuss that further today and tomorrow [as a staff], and on Wednesday we should come to a conclusion as to which direction we want to go," Frazier said at Monday's news conference.
The Vikings are 1-5 and appear to be going nowhere fast so my vote would go to Ponder. He was more elusive than McNabb and seemed to generate more excitement around the offense despite throwing for just 99 yards on 9-of-17 passing.
The Vikings play the Packers on Sunday.
