Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis, this year's Madden cover boy, could be one of the most intriguing names in trade rumors ahead of the NFL trade deadline at 4:00 p.m. Eastern today. Contract negotiations with Hillis have created a tense situation for the rebuilding Browns. With talks seemingly on the road to nowhere, it has been suggested that a trade request could be the next step, according to a recent report from the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.
As illogical as it sounds, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported today that the Browns could indeed be persuaded to move Hillis.
A former seventh-round pick traded to Cleveland from Denver as part of the Brady Quinn deal, Hillis rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. He also proved to be an adept receiver, catching 61 passes for 477 yards and two touchdowns.
Cleveland could no doubt find any number of suitors for Hillis, including a running back hungry Lions team ready to make a playoff run.
