Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles are off to a 1-2 start and will be facing a San Francisco 49ers team that is 2-1.
It's pretty safe to say there weren't many people who looked at this game in the preseason and figured it would be the San Francisco 49ers heading in with a better record than the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, this is the NFL were parity rules and surprises are around every corner.
Michael Vick has so far garnered more attention for his complaints about lack of protection from NFL referees than he has for his play and the Eagles find themselves at 1-2 after two straight losses. On the plus side, they are piling up yardage, especially on the ground where they are averaging 182 yards per game. The big problem has been a defense that has allowed an average of 25.7 points, including 64 points in the past two weeks.
The 49ers haven't necessarily looked good compiling a 2-1 record, but coming off the kind of recent history they've seen, they are surely not worrying too much about how they got here. It should be at least somewhat concerning that they are averaging a paltry 213.7 yards per game.
