Cam Newton scored a one-yard rushing touchdown on the first play of the second quarter to make it 7-10 in Chicago. Chicago got on the board when D.J. Moore intercepted Newton and returned it for a score. Prior to that Chicago used the ground game on a drive that ended with a field goal.
On the next Chicago drive, Matt Forte scored a touchdown on a 17-yard run to make it a 17-10 Bears’ lead.
Chicago has leaned on the run hard today. Forte has seven carries for 85 yards and a touchdown. Marion Barber has two carries for 12 yards, and even Jay Cutler scrambled for two yards on Chicago’s first offensive drive, which featured all running plays.
Cutler has just one pass, a 15-yard strike to Roy Williams, through nearly seven minutes worth of possession. Carolina will be looking to their rookie quarterback to pull them back into the game.
