Bears Vs Panthers: Devin Hester Sets NFL Record For Punt Return Touchdowns

Stay connected with SB Nation

Chicago Bears punt returner Devin Hester returned a second quarter punt to give the Bears another touchdown. That 69-yard punt return touchdown was Hester’s 11th career punt return touchdown, which put him in the record books, for the most punt return touchdowns in NFL history.

That was Hester’s first return touchdown of the season. Last year, he had three scores on punt returns. This was just Hester’s fourth punt return of the season.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Hester had a big kick return today against the Panthers, taking the ball 73-yards to set up a quick Matt Forte touchdown in the second quarter.

Hester’s return touchdown precipitated this barrel roll in the end zone. That move, while entertaining, got him a flag for excessive celebration from the officials. They don’t call it the “No Fun League” out sheer randomness.

The Bears lead the Panthers by just four points, 24-20, in the third quarter.
